Hey guys.

I've been giving this some reasonable thought.

Right now the noctis really is not that good, and its been widely replaced in its position by the MTU which is easier, safer, and cheaper.

What I suggest is that we change the noctis to a mobile long range salvaging sniping ship with some evasion and reduce the price a bit.

200-300km lock range and tractor beam range.
Massive tractor beam speed increase.
Combat probe capable with no cloak
Interdiction Nullified but slowish to align.
maybe 4 highslots. Probes, 2 tractor beams, and a salvager.
Adjust the price to make it reasonable to have these are circling carrion that you can try to grab.

Long range sniper salvager boats darting all over a major battlefield is exactly what I would expect to see in a "real world" capitalist environment. It would also add to tidi quite a bit which is a negative, but it would encourage juicy targets to try to make it to the battlefield.

Why? In most cases, the noctis would be using a 3/4 or 4/4 split of tractors and salvagers, depending on whether they want a cloak or not for safety. Cleaning up after ratters? 7 or 8 salvagers. Cleaning up after a major fight? Warp in, cloak, and wait. Or warp in, bookmark the first wreck you see, warp the hell out to safety, and wait. Local cleans up, warp back in clean up the field.

Beyond that, you're suggesting they utterly f*** up the noctis' ability to quickly clear wrecks. 1 salvager? At that point I could scoop the MTU and it's loot, head to another ratting site, and make more isk off that than trying to salvage 3-6 sites with a single salvager turret.

Why?

If you use a noctis most sites can be done in like 5 minutes or less the way it is now, I am sorry if you do not know how to use the ship.

Noctis is fine as is. Just most people are lazy and don't bother dual boxing a salvage alt

What you're suggesting is putting the noctis into such a tight niche that it'd probably be used even less. Right now you still get an mtu/noctis combo for ratting.

It's the mtu thats the problem. Even if the noctis had plain better tractor range and even moar speed, the fact the mtu has wrecks in a neat ball by the time you get back makes the noctis' tractoring abilities irrelevant in most situations. You aren't going to get round that without deleting mtu's.

Maybe if destroyed mtu's dropped full loot they may be more worthwhile hunting.
