New Divide Stack Window. Provide Option to Split by Volume

Can you guys tell what I'm working on in game at the moment based on my recent suggestions. Lol

In any case... CCP it would be super great if the divide-stack window, in addition to splitting by quantity, allowed us the option to split by volume.

So you could type in a volume amount in m3, and it would round (I'm thinking down) by one unit of volume for that item if the number you enter isn't a multiple of the item's volume.

Ideally the rounding would occur visibly in the window immediately so you can see precisely the volume you will be splitting off. The up/down arrows would tick the volume up or down by one unit of the item's volume.

This would be particularly useful for trying to clear enough cargo space in your ship to be left with a certain volume left (say for something you will be picking up elsewhere).

Protip: Find out the volume by looking at "Show Info", then do some simple multiplication.

Protip:

If you split by quantity you will also spit by volume; all items of the same stack have the same volume.

I think perhaps you misunderstand. I'm assuming you are aware different items in Eve take up different volumes in m3. Few things have exactly 1 m3 of volume (where each unit matches a single whole m3 of space).

Let's say I have 3200.00 m3 of space left in my cargo hold and I want to fill half of it with some plagioclase to sell and the other half with some arkonor. I have 100,000 units of plagioclase and 30,000 units of arkonor in my hanger.

I can't simply split off 1600 units of plagioclase, and 1600 units of arkonor (3200 / 2) and call it a day. 1600 units of plagioclase will take up only 560 m3 of space. While 1600 units of arkonor will take up 25,600 m3. A single unit of plagioclase takes up 0.35 m3 of space. While single unit of arkonor takes up 16 m3.

What I'm saying is it would be nice if I could say to the interface, split off 1600 m3 from this stack of plagioclase and put it in my cargo hold.

So it would split off a stack of 4571.42 units of plagioclase to put into my hold.

Since you can't have less than a single unit of any item it would split off 4571 units for a total of 1599.85 m3 of space taken. Leaving me with 1600.15 m3 of space left in my cargo hold, where I can fit 100 units of arkanor (with 0.15 m3 of volume to spare).

Of course this is useful as my original post outlined as well. Where say I have say a 50,000 m3 cargo hold full of plagioclase, and I need to clear out 1600 m3 of space for something I'm picking up along the way. I just tell the interface, split off 1600 m3 from my stack of plagioclase. It would round my volume in the interface to 1599.85 m3 (because each unit of plagioclase is 0.35 m3) , and I could see "Oooh not quite enough space. I need to clear out 1600 m3 of space to fit what I'm picking up."

So I tick the up arrow on the interface once, and now it says I'm splitting off a stack of 1600.20 m3 from it. I say "Perfect. Just enough to fit what I need to pick up, plus enough extra space for 2 cases of Quafe Ultra." It's a party in a can! Blink
