Returning pilot trying to find his things

So, I have been reading a lot about EVE lately and wanted to return, buzz around, maybe pick up my sub again. I was hoping to be greeted by the friendly face of my toon, but I had to remake him. No problem I thought.

I recreated him as best as I could remember (It has been five years) and I get back to the profile screen. I see that I have about 700k SP and 150k isk, so I hope in game thinking that all my old stuff will still be around. Low and behold, looks like my toon has a new name and I have none of my things, at all. All of the SP that I invested in him is returned and from what I can tell I need to reinvest it. I also cant find any of the things that I owned, from my HACs to my Hulk.

Now I realize that since I am an alpha clone I wont be able to do a lot of what I could, but shouldn't my stuff still be around someplace? Shouldn't I have the chance to change my name to what it used to be?

Since I am coming back after so long from being away, I am considering myself a newbie again. Feels good to be back, but I am worried that all my stuff is gone. Any info on what happened to it would be incredibly helpful.

Yes your stuff should be around. On the list of icons click the one that looks like a safe(Personal assets)

I'm a little concerned about you having to remake your name and character... Dose this mean that this is a completely new guy?

no stuff, different name, sounds like you either deleted your old character or logged into a different account. Also possible you gave away all your stuff or your account got breached. Try looking up your old character name and see if the character is still there. Might be worth filing a support ticket to try and find out what happened.

when you say "reinvest" on your sp does that mean the character has a lot of free sp on it? Most of that should be from skills that got removed, when you say Hacs and Hulks that doesn't quite sound right either, as very little of that should have gotten changed.

in the mean time I'd suggest running the tutorials, career agents, and soe epic arc just to get back on your feet and hopefully you can make a slightly more informed decision on where to go next.

When I logged into my account through my browser, which I believe is the one I used several years ago, my characters name was 'Minmatar citizen #XXX'. I found during my research that this may have been because of changes that happened down the line, but I cannot be certain.

When I logged in with the client, the character there had a new name, the one that I am posting under now, and I could see that there were skill points and ISK already listed under him. I had to go through the character creation again, but this time I could not choose my faction and sub factions. It was locked at Minmatar Sebeistor. I assumed that it was just the same character but due to changes they had to give me a new name. When I loaded up in the station, which I believe was in a Minmatar starting area, I found none of my personal items in that tab. The UI looks slightly different than I remember, but I was able to find the Personal Assets section and I had nothing. My staging systems were Rens, Alakgur, and a couple others from when I was rolling around with my corp.

I do not believe I logged into a different account, but I guess it could be possible. If I remember correctly, I only had the one account during my time. I also never deleted my toon cause I liked him so much and I never knew if I would come back. I wanted to have him around in case I did. I never gave away my things cause it took so long to get my Hulk, I didn't want to go through that again. Since the account is pretty old, I would not be surprised if it was breached, which wouldn't be the biggest loss but it would still suck.

With the SP, there is a lot of free points that I can spend, though I cant spend it one some stuff due to the account being an Alpha clone at the moment. I mentioned the HACs and Hulk because I could not find them in my personal assets, and when I look at my skills I have none of the still needed to fly those ships.

I am not sure how to look up my old toon to see if he is still around. Any suggestions on how to look that up would be appreciated.

It looks like I have found my old toon through EVE Gate, but I am not sure why this new one has so much SP invested in him. I am very confused.

Thanks to the both of you guys for all your help! I am so happy that I was able to find my old character. Chainsaw, you were right, I was logging into a different account. I did not remember making the second one, so I guess I have two now, lol.

*EDIT*

After thinking on it a couple minutes, I believe that the second account was from when I was playing DUST. I made a second one so my characters could interact, but now that DUST isn't really a thing any longer, I don't need the second one.

nice! the name changes only happened to accounts that never subscribed, and if the name wasn't taken they will now revert to the player's chosen name with alpha clones.
