Eve launcher excessive CPU usage

For some time (several months) I've observed that the Eve Launcher is using significant portions of CPU for no apparent reason.

I'm currently using an iMac 5k (4 GHz i7) on MacOS Sierra 10.12.3 and Eve Launcher 1104888, and even with the launcher minimized, CPU for this process is jumping between 9-10% and up to around 50%. I have two accounts logged in, but I can't understand why the launcher is consistently and frequently jumping to 50% (~2 GHz) as it shouldn't be doing anything at all once I've logged in.

The most obvious workaround is to simply quit the launcher once I've logged in.

Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

The EVE Launcher, from what I can tell, represent your EVE clients. Wine doesn't show up as a CPU command (Window server does), and so the more eve clients you are running the more CPU the launcher will show using.

I don't believe that's correct - in my Activity Monitor I see "EVE Launcher" when only the launcher is running, and once I log in a client I also see processes "wine" and "wineserver", where "wine" seems to be the main client process (as it uses the most CPU).

For what it's worth I'm seeing Eve Launcher use unreasonable amounts of CPU across two different Mac's (On the previously mentioned iMac as well as on a Macbook). I'm saying unreasonable based on the apparent workload of the launcher, which is to render the launcher window and some news/blog items and so forth (I believe the launcher is essentially a HTML-based browser).

I'm not seeing this on my machine, so it's hard for me to say what is going on.

Is it downloading anything? Note that by default it will download binaries and resources for the test servers, Singularity and Duality so it might still be downloading even after the main game client for Tranquility is ready. You can disable this in Preferences...

where do you see it list the launchers CPU usage.? in the activity window or via a third party app?

Activity Monitor: http://prntscr.com/ewr7jc
Istatsmenu: http://prntscr.com/ewr7qj

my istatmenu, doesn't even list my eve launcher... it combines it with the wine clients.

The launcher is not downloading anything from what I can tell - I can have the launcher running for hours or even days and it will keep spiking on CPU. I'm using the built-in Activity Monitor to observe this - right now for instance I see the launcher regularly (every 10 seconds or so) spike up to 45-50% CPU (on a 4 GHz i7), right now the launcher is running 30-32 threads.

Happy to provide sampling data or anything else that may shed some more light on this. This is more of an annoyance than an actual problem since I can just quit the launcher once I have logged in.
