If only players could experience these technical improvements ingame (faster loading times in contracts and industry, no traffic control, 100 people not causing Tidi, and such)

You do know that TiDi will affect the whole node, not just one system? So it may be some other system on the same server-node that creates the TiDi.

I know that and no, when my 100-200 people strong fleet jumps through a gate, in most cases it is not other people causing the Tidi and TC, it is my fleet. Irregardless of that, such things should not create tidi in the first place with this super awesome new tech. Just yesterday, a 180 people strong fleet had to travel 20+ jumps through low/null and created TC and Tidi with every gate jump. Initially we had another friendly fleet (similar size) following us, but they had to wait until we were a couple of jumps ahead so that both our fleets would not exponentially increase the Tidi/TC when our fleet jumps out of a system while their fleet jumps in. This is not exactly enjoyable and fun gameplay.

As you cannot know how much load there are on the other systems on that node, it could be that your 100 ships jumping are pushing it past the TiDi-line for a time when your ships are changing system.

Wormholer for life.

Did you notice a performance improvement going from SQL server 2012 to 2016?

I'm sorry, I just realized that you weren't being sarcastic using the words 'performance' and SQL server' in the same sentence. No if they'd moved from SQL Server 2012 to Oracle 12c of course...

If it's not sensitive info, it would be awesome to one day get a photo tour of the whole set-up. I wanna leer at racks

the previeus blogs contained pictures of the cluster , mainly in this one

Is it me or you are running in IBM Flex (now obsolete) hardware?
Time for hyper converged?
It´s a nice system, the storage is also ok, but we would like more pics!

you are correct we are running FLEX but its the Lenovo model which are very much valid to i believe 2025

the IBM Blade Centers are becoming obsolete and that's what was used in Tech II

Im sorry but TQ TIII still hasnt resolved the issue of large fleet fights. If you think a bad tidi experience is OK then im sorry to disappoint. Tidi is just as bad now than it was before. In fact tidi is still the same old lag as 8 years ago.

TiDi is of course not the best experience but its better to have that option when a big fleet fight kicks in

and TQ Tech III was never intended to solve Tidi that is mainly an artifact of Python which EVE is written in being single threaded thus when we in OPS look at the server load we focus on a single core vs the entire throughput of the CPU's combined cores so from a task manager in windows when there is a big fleet fight say 5000 pilots we see total CPU at perhaps 40-50 % thus windows says "yo i am cool let me have more to do please" while the process running the system can only utilize a single core for its physics engine and that core within the CPU is stuck at 100% saying "**** there is a lot of people trying to blow **** up in this code i am suppose to process"

Tech III with new architecture CPU's did bring the bar higher for when Tidi kicks in and that is what we can do with hardware ... only raise the bar a little higher and historically that has meant that you EVE pilots have hit that new bar :)

hope this explanation helps a little bit

too soon to tell as we are now gathering metrics and slowly utilizing features which were 2016 only but we have seen some improvements for sure

i am atleast very positive in regards of the Database health going forward with the engine running 2016 :)
