Are Alpha Clones suppose to be limited when selling on the market?

I am a returning player and as such, I am still in an Alpha Clone. I was planning on selling a few items to grab a PLEX for my 1st month back, but it appears that I can not list any item to sell for more than 35 Million ISK. I even tried to sell a Cheron and the highest I could post it for is 35 Million.

Is this an intended restriction for Alpha Accounts? I ask because if this is intended it makes it impossible for Alpha Clones to make enough ISK to buy PLEX.

Anyone care to shed some light on this since everything I have read form CCP has said nothing about this.

I haven't had any problems selling on the market. There is a limit to how many sell orders listed at once till you get the right skills up

When you choose the option "sell" for an item, it tries to match your item with the highest local buy order for that item, and shows it to you on the lil' window. From there, two possibilities :
1- You're trying to sell to buy orders, which is usually a bad idea.
2- The place where you are at is not a trade hub, and thus, buy orders are rare and not worth your time.

The above message presents my opinions on the topic at hand. If there is a conflict between my views and reality, consider reality to be correct until proven otherwise.

It may be that you do not have enough funds to cover the fees for putting up the sell order?

Hard to say from your description. What you should do is:

-- open the market window and look at the bottom left of the right hand pane where it has some stats like x / y order slots available, e.g. for one of my trade characters it might say 52 / 273 order slots available, meaning I can create 52 buy or sell orders (might need to go into the market history tab first, I don't recall), or Wallet > Orders tab, shows the same info at the bottom.

This will establish if you have a problem due to no free order slots

-- look at your wallet balance.

If it is low, say less than ~100mill you probably won't be able to cover the broker fees / sales tax on a Charon or plex which is probably (for you, without any trade skills) going to be around 5% of the 1+ bill price.

However, there are ways around that. You can sell to a buy order, using Duration : Immediate to save on some taxes or sell to a WTB contract, or use a WTS contract (Item Exchange, private item exchange contracts are the cheapest way), but contracts are fraught with danger for people who are not familiar with the contract system and that look at public contracts in trade hubs.

The best way, if you can't cover the fees, is to sell off some junk items, hopefully stuff that you don't need, and cover fees that way, as contracts are a financial weapon of mass destruction for rookies :)

Or it could be as stated above that you are trying to sell to a low ball buy orders.

Alternatively, if you are still stuck, join the ingame chat channel GMBA (which is rather unintuitive but stands for Galactic Masters of Business Academy, which is a pretty high-falutin title, in reality it's just the rookie / new trarder chat channel associated with another trade chat channel), someone can probably answer your question there. But first make sure you have checked the following:

1. Number of free order slots, as above
2. Wallet balance, as this relates to covering market fees, as above

you need to tell us what exactly happens.
you must be able to enter any price you want?
so what happens when you enter high price and click sale? is the cut off 35mil for everything you try to sell, or just your Charon?
if you want to set up a sale order, the duration should be anything other than immediate. otherwise it is trying to sell to a buy order at the buy order price and anything higher than that will fail.
and to the poster above, sales tax is taken AFTER the sale is made, not when you set up a sale order.

I just sold an item for 90 Mil. ISK on an Alpha clone. Maybe your wallet is so low in ISK that you can't pay the broker fee for higher orders?
