The only aliens this game should have should be cosmic horrors from beyond space and time. Its existence should end up driving all the empires into pulling off even more bullshit drama in an attempt to survive, by basically feeding everyone else to said cosmic horror in an attempt to appease its appetite and therefore survive the next cycle.

Because seriously. Eve Online has always been about humans being mean towards each other. If any alien race, and I mean truly alien race (not just other kinds of humans or creations of humans growing far beyond imagination), is to be introduced, its existence should be a catalyst for more humans being mean to other humans action.

I really like that EvE's backstory and structure don't include the standard anthropomorphic scifi-game "aliens"...the vast majority of which are often just reskinned humans anyway.

well don't hold ya breath OP, it's not something that's going to change anytime soon.

No thankyou. One of the things I like about Eve is there's no aliens with assimplant foreheads that look act and behave like humans but are called aliens.
The idea of humans spreading out and diverging into new races is more interesting. I'm fine with new empires diverged from the dark ages main empires. Maybe hold a competition to create a new empire. Ehh? Ehh?

Only way I'd except aliens is if they were foreign to our carbon based life.
Like xenomorphs.
Those are believable aliens.
It makes no sense for bipedal humanstyle lifeforms to conveniently exist along side us who happen to speak English.
That's the critical flaw of starwars and startrek. Almost all the aliens are just humans with face deformities. Where are the incomprehensible foreign lifeforms.
If they wanna make a Tyranid/xenomorphs/zerg style alien race for us to eradicate like an infestation thats fine. But no buttheads or pointy eard Vulcans. It's cheesy and Eve is supposed to be gritty and dark. Not cheesy.

See you get it. Wtf is up with Vulcans. How is that an alien. Theyre just humans with bowl hair cuts and pointy ears.

We kinda have Xenomorphs in Eve Online. They are called Rogue Drones. Should have an event where massive numbers of rogue drones, some the size of titans, start invading in droves in a drive for more resources. Bonus points if they figured out how to rapidly infest planets.

Wouldn't mind it one bit if done right...opening new space up trade, tech exchange new forms of pvp/e...or universe threat that need to be fight back stuff like that.

They can also have pointy ears I wouldn't make a fuss about it, origin of their species need to be alien not their look or at least it's not deal breaker for me.

In defense of star trek it had many aliens that did not looked like human from jello life forms like care taker to all kinds of animal forms sentient nebula's dimensional beings worms and what not lay off the hate or you know produce something iconic your self show us the "better aliens".

The first time I saw Xenuria I thought EVE had received a new race of aliens. Kind of disappointed that wasn't the case though... But hey new aliens? I mean sure do they have cool ships or stuff to loot?

What about that creepy machine intelligence that piggybacked on the former amarrian empress? The one the drifters showed up and zapped on live feed? That would qualify in my book as pretty alien. Shocked

I think there is a lot of interesting alien like behaviour that could easily come from those types of artificial intelligences like we see with the rogue drones, as people have brought up in the thread. Some of the thinking they could present would be downright terrifying.

There are already aliens in eve. We play as them. We are not native to this area of the galaxy. In fact our home world is so far away it has been lost to time. On top of that we play as a class of people who have transcended mortality, and wield power and wealth on a scale barely comprehensible to baselines.

Whatever we once where, capsuleers are no longer human.

According to DNA testing, nope! Still human!

Just some really bigheaded humans due to all that power that was put in their hands.

Guys, guys.... Guys listen... Guys, how about we have aliens in game but they aren't organic aliens but an advanced machine race. Timeless, unbounded by distance, drifting forever among the voids, the result of aeons of machine evolution in deep space.

You realise that rogue drones exist, right? We don't need fricking Reapers when there's already a race of machines that are evolving beyond their programming and in a very different direction than what their creators originally envisioned.

No! They also have the knock-out grip and mind-meld thing.

Ok you're right. They're humans with some martial art/chiropractic skill and a little sci-fi ESP thing thrown in, along with the funny haircut and ears.

Yeah go on then, let's expand on the rogue drones and have them invade regions or something like that. Or have drone agents so you can build standing and buy from their LP store. I'm sure there's plenty of things CCP could do with rogue drones.

Agreed that it's about time for the rogue drones to stir up trouble. You would think that a machine race that has infested one region very thoroughly and has presence everywhere in the cluster would start making more frequent incursions necessitating constant effort to cull their numbers before they really run amok.
