Manual Pilot Question

We all know that you double click screen to manually pilot. For example, if you want to go to the right, then right click the right part of the screen and your ship will turn right. But meanwhile your ship will also go deeper into the screen, because the space has 3 dimensions. Now I'd like to know is this deepness affected by where you click? And how do you control how deep your ship goes into the screen?

When you double click in space, your ship will fly exactly into that direction until you give another command to fly somewhere else

No, it always also go deeper into the screen instead of staying on the surface of your current screen.

As it's supposed to since your are working in 3D. If you want to move to the right without going "deeper", turn your camera and double click somewhere that is in a 90 degree angle of the target

The "deepness" is simply a matter of perspective. If you're looking directly down at your ship and want to go right, then you just rotate the camera 90 degrees perpendicular to your alignment and click the middle of the screen. That effectively sends the ship deeper into the screen, but from your ship's perspective, it's making a flat right turn. If you then rotate your camera back to the original top down view, it looks like a flat right turn as well.

You pick a star on the background image that's in the direction you want to go. Now click on it. You are now flying toward that star.. because threeee deeeee Pirate

The second star on the right is the one you are looking for :)

Move your camera before clicking.

Example: rotate the camera so you are looking at your ship from the side. When you click in space on an imaginary vertical line that intersects your ship, you will the move towards a spot in space that was in that plane at the moment you clicked. It will take a moment to change direction, because inertia (note: agility counters inertia) and changing your velocity / acceleration vector.

Dont use the Tactical Camera, use the your Orbital Camera (its the button in the Middle).

Deactivate Dynamic FOV (to be honest i would deactivate everything there, from camera shakes to camera bobbing)
