Ok, I'm a returning Eve player from many years ago, and there are a lot of things that are new since that I find difficult to understand and to find information that wouldn't require a hefty amount of previous knowledge (darn you acronyms etc)

1. What other "missions" are there besides the usual level 1 - 4 missions? I hear people talking about Sansha sites or something like that, and some other things you can find by scanning or otherwise. I haven't tried scanning, and I probably should.

2. How do you set up and use insta-dock bookmarks? If I haul stuff from place A to place B, do I need to set up some kind of bookmark right outside a space station to speed up my entry into that station when lugging around in a slow hauler? I love the idea of hauling crap for profit, but I find that there is an incredible amount of learning to do before it makes sense to attempt high-value hauls. Trying to get my head around all these warping/webbing/bookmarking/spying/cloaking techniques makes me think I should probably just play Quake instead.

3. What is "cost" of getting pod killed? You lose all implants, anything else? I think I got podded years ago, but I can't remember what happened. I guess it's time to try it again! :-) I was just wondering why people don't fly around more in pods. I find it a very fast and convenient way to get around the galaxy. :-)

4. How do you find gas mining sites? Do you have to scan for them?

5. Are you much more likely to get gatecamp ganked in 0.5/0.6 than higher? Does the lower sec rating mean that gankers have more time to shoot at you?

6. Why do people use different accounts, for, say, mining or industry and PvP? Why not train all the necessary skills on a single account? Or is to just speed up training by having both training at the same time, and use different implants or something like that?

1. There are DED complexes in 10 different difficulty levels, Incursions (invasions of areas of space by a certain kind of rat), Combat Signatures and Anomalies, Relic sites with defences for exploration etc. Sleeper sites in wormhole space...

2. You use the People & Places window (places tab) to save your current location in space as a bookmark. Then you can warp to it any time you're in system. Set them up far away from the undock in the rough direction you will be heading when you undock, then you can warp almost instantly to these bookmarks upon undock. This prevents bad guys from locking you as you align after undock.

3. No cost to getting pod killed (you used to lose some SP sometimes, but no more) aside from the implants you have installed in your squishy brain. Whenever you're sure you're about to die just start spamming warp to somewhere, as your ship pops your pod will insta-warp away to safety (unless bubbled, then you're boned). People will usually fly in a shuttle instead of a pod, because the shuttle warps faster and gives an extra layer of protection in the event of a gank. People will gank pods just to see if you have any implants since you have next to no HP you are a very cheap target to gank.

4. Yes, you go to Nulsec or Wormhole Space and scan for Gas sites, then you run them in a venture or occasionally in a BC if you're particularly brave.

5. 0.5 systems such as Uedema are popular places for ganking. Bare in mind that ganking is usually the fault of the target, either using autopilot or carrying too much value in a single load. Often indy pilots will fit entirely for cargo space and not fit any form of tank, this is a stupid idea most times.

6. People use seperate accounts when they might need both sets of skills at the same time, otherwise it's perfectly acceptable to use the 3 on your single account.

Welcome back.

All the questions you've asked (and thousands more) are answered here: https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Main_Page

1. Sansha sites are probably referring to incursions. This is fleet PVE - you can't run these solo. You can find them in your journal. Also search the wiki for combat sites.

2. Search the wiki for bookmarks.

3. Other than your ship and implants there is no cost to getting pod killed. Exception: you can lose a skill level if you are flying a T3 cruiser.

4. Search the wiki for gas cloud harvesting.

5. Gate camps are usually 0.4 and below. In highsec there are a few 0.5 choke point systems like Uedama and Niarga where suicide gankers camp for haulers. Border systems between highsec and null/low are also popular with campers. Also serch the wiki for gatecamps.

6. Industry scales well across characters. You can train 3 characters on an account to level 4 in the time it takes to train 1 chracter to level 5. That will (for example) give you 30 production slots instead of 11 or 15 PIcolonies instead of 6. Generally industrial ALT accounts pay for themselves once the basic training is complete and can earn enough to pay for a PVP main.

Thank you very much for the answers guys. One more question, is it worth ratting in low sec space? Does the ratting income get much higher when going below 0.5, to, say, 0.2?
And what kind of ship would make sense to go ratting in 0.2 - 0.3? Would you need a battleship?

I'm just thinking for something different for fun, I presume it's not going to be particularly profitable.

You can make a pretty good living ratting. A chart showing bounty payouts: http://cdn1.eveonline.com/community/MER/Feb_2017/9aaa_top.sinks.faucets.over.time.png

Best ratting is in sovereign nullsec. It's reasonably safe if you watch the intel channels. People I know tend to use inexpensive ships - Vexor Navy Issue or Dominix. You will lose one occasionally.

Sites respawn immediately in the same system if the activity defense multipliers (ADM) are maintained https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Sovereignty

No don't use a Battleship, you're going to want a T1 Cruiser of some kind, maybe even a Destroyer if it's fit nice. Ratting income increases greatly outside of Hisec. Feel free to contact me directly for further assistance getting set up and ratting. It's well possible to walk away from casual belt ratting with several hundred million in an afternoon.

Skill point loss when losing a T3 Cruiser is not dependent on being podded, they are separate acts. You cannot lose SP from being podded, only from losing a T3 Cruiser. I think it's important to make that definition since SP loss used to be very much linked with pod loss.
