New Player Basic Salvaging Guide

Hi there,

this is my first post in the forums. I have been in game a few months and had a look around as a new player. I stumbled across salvaging as I was playing but realised that although there are a lot of guides out there they don't seem to cover the basics for a new player. That is how much will it cost and what is the basic material a player needs to get into salvaging.

This is a very basic guide with the basic info on what seems to work best. All comments welcome of course. Any advice will be gratefully received.

I think you could structure that better. Put the scanning skills into the ninja section as it appears tjat all thos skills are required.

You have a point - but in my experience if you cannot scan then there will be whole evenings where you won't be salvaging. As far as I can see you have to engage in both strategies and therefore those skills are a must.

They are therefore pre-requisites.

^ untrue in my oppinion. Beginner salvaging can begin with no scanning skills at all if you know where to look. Check out the "Skelleton Comet" (in gallante space i believe, google it for system location). There are many areas of intense highsec ratting in EvE where people will farm constantly spawning ships and provide hundreds of wrecks a day for the competent salvage frigate, i believe the skelleton comet spawns cruisers primarily.

Also you should ask someone with a better memory than me what the in-game chat channel is for free salvage, there are a few.

Nice info in ur guide, but i agree the scanning skills are more ninja based.

For a beginner to get into salvage quickly they need a destroyer and some salvage beams, salvage lvl3, job done.

Thanks for the info Keno - I will check that out later this evening. Once I establish the facts then I can modify the guide as you both suggest. I didn't expect it to be a perfect first draft. So all input much appreciated.

Updated now with your advice and information acknowledged. I found the COSMOS site tricky to do with the setup in the guide. I think it needs a more tanky ship.
