Stargate jump animation

So we got new effects for covert cynos a while back, new cloaking effects, sexy warp effects, new stars....but the stargate jump animation is suuuuper dated. Can we have a new one? Especially since CCP is moving in the direction of making stargates a central feature of coming expansions (allegedly) it would be nice to have really nice looking jump animations. IMO this should be pretty high up on the list for upcoming gfx changes.

The jump animations are still relatively new, actually. In fact I still call it the new jump animations out of habit. We used to have no such animation at all, just a load bar, then immediate scene switch to the next system.

They wouldn't be able to do much with it anyways; when they first introduced the animations back in fanfest, no less, people loved it. Then it hit TQ and people swarmed in bitching about it causing nausea and such. CCP's had to, since then, alter the camera movement heavily, to the point that it doesn't move much at all. I'm actually surprised the camera still orients behind the initial gate and "shoots" through it during the jump. Making new animations would likely result in the same complaints cropping up either way. Right now, the animations work without issue and no one's complaining about them being "too much," which is a good enough reason to leave them be as is.

Personally, I agree that they could use some more energy. You're instantly traveling from system to system over vast distances in many cases without much in the way of delay, yet it still feels like you're just teleporting there a la Minecraft commands. They need to feel like there's a monstrous amount of force behind the act of jumping, but it's a little too subtle to me.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

Curious as to how you would handle these animations in a way that portrays this feeling of force you want to see?
The problem with these have plagued sci-fi since the advent of movies decades ago and to be honest whether it was the sparkler in the tail of the space ships in the early Buck Rogers films to the affects in the newest star wars movies none of them have really succeeded.

Applying massive amounts of force to a metal can in space doesn't sound like an intelligent idea. It also doesn't match up with the lore, which is what this thread seems to be about.

From what I've read, they create wormholes between each other. Which would mean that your regular propulsion or warp drive would be the driving force on moving through said wormhole.

I have not seen it yet but I am gonna check it out soon as it's posted on twitch VOD and hopefully see my concern answered :D

Also, with respect to the ideas what I had in mind was something similar to the jump animations of elite dangerous...which are pretty sexy, and pretty impressive coming out of warp at a gigantic star. Didn't realize the new EVE animations were new but I'd hope to see some more energy put into something that you see sooo often. Like, you see the jump animation more often than a lot of other mechanics. Certainly more frequently than you see stars, for example - so it should look nice.

Edit: after watching fanfest I didn't see anything about stargate jump animations. They are looking at updating the visuals on the gates themselves, but it's the jump animation I am referring to.
