Personally I find the varied nebula colored backgrounds (presumably based on region nebula of the faction the ship belongs to) of the ship icons (as seen in your ship hanger window for instance) to not only distract from quickly locating and identifying the ship you wish to activate, but detract from the actual image of the ship itself all together.

With the whole effort to clean up the user interface and make it more efficient and user friendly, I think a change like this would go along with that goal. I would rather see a flat color background (black seems best, but perhaps other colors might work), or get rid of the square container of the ship entirely and just have it sit in the ship hanger window.

Now if you want to get really fancy you could have the ships enlarge a bit and rotate when you hover your cursor over them. In the event the first part of this idea doesn't adequately stir up the F&I forum flamers.
