so decided to come back to EVE and continue where i left off, but when i logged on I noticed that almost 20 million of my skill points have been reset and i have to do the training all over again, have i just wasted my money coming back? or is there away to get my training back.

That's not normal.

• How long have you been out of the game for?
• Do you have any "unallocated" skillpoints?

Check your character sheet to see if you have unallocated skill points. Some skills were done away with in the past (learnings come to mind) and those skill points were moved to the unallocated pool.

been away maybe just over a year. would always jump on every now and then and fly my Nemesis for fun but now i cant even fly my basic ships.

When you came back did you resubscribe? You may be looking at your skills being alpha limited.

File a support ticket RIGHT away (Just so you're aware, you can't discuss your support ticket correspondence here in the forum.)

I'll have you know right now that CCP has a pretty terrible record when it comes to reimbursing people who've lose things to hacking. Basically they leave it on you to keep your account secure which is completely bullshit in my opinion.

Crossing Zebras Cybersecurity 101 - The advice here is very good but I completely disgree with the author's stance that we are all supposed IT gurus. CCP doing nothing on hacking is completely wrong.

Victim's post - this was some high profile drama a couple months back.

I would be absolutely sick if this happened to me and I would quit and never look back.

I hope CCP sorts this out for you.

When you are a former subscriber coming back to Alpha... you see the following.

1. On the log in screen, there is a number for skill points below each toon. This number is the amount you would have if you re-subscribe.

2. Once you log in if you pull up your skills the "total" number shown is only your "ALPHA" skills. The other skills are visible as "yellowed out" skills... you still have them but can't use them unless you plex or re-subscribe.


When I came back I was showing 30 million skill points on the log in and around 4 million once I entered the game. They all came back once I re-subscribed.

Furthermore... keep in mind your alpha skills are race specific. So if you're minmatar and mainly trained in Gallente ships (like I did), you may not be able to fly even the T1 ships in your hangar as an alpha.... you'll have to buy racial frigates to do those.

I did have a few rifters and a rupture lying around, so I could make do as an Alpha for a while. But not having the ability to use drones like I remembered was one of the things pushing me to resub.
