Hey,

Just for info: Singularity will be down for the next few hours for updating the DB to the next release. New suns are being installed and will be available after the update. Cool
The long duration of the update is actually mostly caused by updating how items in corporation hangars are stored in the database. This change will have no functional impact, but it will address one reason for bugs with features which are both available in stations and Upwell structures and is one of our attempts to reduce the burden of legacy code.

WOW. The new suns look awesome. All we need now is a Module which shoots a missile to change the color of the sun.

The new stars look great, i realy like the animated solarflares, but there is one thing that has always bothered me about new eden's stars,

(First, i am asuming that because the use the real life kelvin scale and stellar spectral classes, new eden's stars are using the same classifications as real life stars)

A number of the new star discriptions do not match the stars properties like temperature, spectral class and luminosity,

for example, Jita's discription discribes a High mass O type star, while its properties indicate a Main secuence F7 type star, a type of star that is similar to the real life sun (spectral type G2V)

A Properties of a O type star would be more like this:

Luminosity 45.000

Age 634.000

radius 6.887.430 km

spectral class O7V

temperature 39.000 K

Haven't seen one yet but my guess would be that it would take some time to spot one, since the star will rotate at a different pace as a planet would.

Maybe once the stars are working as intended you can see spots.

Sidenote, you can see different weather patterns on planets if you stay long enough. I have accidentally stumbled upon the slow formation of a thunderstorm in a planets atmosphere. Now that looked really cool.

Thing is, usually you are chasing someone or following someone and not everyone takes the time to really take a closer look at that Sad

Do we have an ETA on when these will be going live?

1) Ring around the star have some artifacts if you set highest possible brightness in the game setting.

2) Distance to the star is a lie - I did fly that 10k-11k km and realize that there is no difference in perceptible distance; it feelt like I just warp on that star.

3)Funny thing about that distance is that if you warp-off the star while beining 'inside of it', warp off animation show your ship:

a) warping off the star(yes, 'sun' is getting smaller while you warping to new destination)

b) then, warping through the star(magic, pure magic, same as warping through the planets)

c) and then once again warping off the star(same animation as on 'a')

4) It would be really nice if star on scanning map had same look as the new stars instead of large bright point.
