First of all, my thanks to the people who are involved on the idea - authorization - execution of the fanfest Kyonoke event.

I know a lot of players couldn´t care less for the RP and lore of EVE, and a lot of the ones that do care don´t show up on social media to say they do. (Myself included). But we do exist, we do enjoy, we do want more.

I just heard about the Kyonoke event yesterday trough Reddit, and i am really excited on the approach, a mix of LARP, Clue, PvP, arcade, showoff contest that gets to have a say on the lore direction? Awesome! (Glad you guys used something from the White Wolf IP)

I just have a couple of questions about the forms and timming of notification. Was there any indication that an event like this would be available at the fanfest? Was the short notice intentional? If so, doesn´t it reduce the decision process to the hardcore people that usually attend fanfest as usual?

It´s a huge step from the Battle of Caldari Prime way of doing things (there are no illusions here, tokens get votes, votes get resolutions), the mechanics are perfect, i just wonder about the risk/reward aspect (saving lives isn´t exactly a capsuleer preference, most would simply want to nuke from orbit themselves if possible) and the ramifications of the process. It´s a great way of doing things, but the things being done should have a sense of... grandeur for more people to take interest in.

I live in Brazil, so the conversion rate of USD to Real are not that great to show up on short notice (also the logistics are a bit... tricky to get there), but if people knew that this kind of thing would be showing up frequently at fanfests, perhaps they could save money in advance for it.

Again, great idea, great mechanic to get things done, why announce this king of thing so close to the event?

There was a brief mention of some storyline related event at Fanfest in the last o7 show, roughly 2 minutes that start here (from around 4:51 - 7:12). The o7 show took place a few days after the long and still running ingame news arc about the Kyonoke Plague started, so one could possibly guess that the event might have something to do with the news chain. But yes, I wouldn't call it an announcement and it was easy to miss.

In case you didn't see that, there are also a few words about the event in the latest Fanfest Dev Blog (see the section "Immersive Event - The YC119 Kyonoke Inquest") which was actually published later than the Reddit Post. (I guess you mean this one, right?)

It probably wouldn't have been easy to announce more details earlier and to keep the tension of the news arc at the same time. Maybe that's why there was no information about the event at an earlier stage.

"2017-03-24"

2 weeks early it´s not enough time for an international travel. (At least for the working class like me, got to inform my vacations with antecedence)

And of course i understand that talking about the specific Kyonoke event would interfere with the RP, but the mechanic of RP decision at fanfest could use some heads up. If it´s a trend (i hope so) perhaps more people would like to go to the event specifically to influence lore wise (and the other fun stuff of course).

"Hey players, Fanfest it´s not just to get to know new stuff, meet people and party like hell, you can also play EVE while at it in form of RP!" Opens the door for a new type of interaction that watching from home doesn´t provide.

Why not use indoor tools like the forums to organize this kind of thing? I don´t have facebook, why would i need to have it to do EVE related stuff?

Well, thanks for the lovely time! Even if i wasn´t present at the fanfest, i had a great time reading about each clue that was gathered and tweeted, i watched the Discourse video, the articles on Crossing Zebras and stood ready outside H4-RP4 to shoot any infected escapees.

Keep doing things like this, humanity is based on stories, you just need them to be interesting so they can be heard.

And you found a way!
