Is it possible to smartbomb a shuttle with a destroyer?

It's impossible to activate a module that requires locking on a shuttle actively piloted by a player who knows how to use bookmarks. So the only way to catch him would be using smartbombs, which will almost surely get you concorded (and absolutely surely if you succeed) in hi-sec. So my question is, is it possible to smartbomb a shuttle just with a destroyer (like catalyst)? so that your loss won't be great.

I am almost 100% certain smartbombs are banned in highsec.

Edit: Sorry, I was under the impression that they are banned as in not being usable - they can be used but hitting anything at all, apparently even rocks will get you concorded because you used it in high.

you could use a maller, dont know about a destroyer, you may not have enough cap or powergrid available, remember you dont want just the shuttle you also want the pod which you need to stagger your bombs to kill the shuttle then the pod.

off my killboard a shuttle will take circa 6-700 damage without implants, I can fit 8 large faction bombs which do 350 damage each (i dont always hit with all 8).

If you have his pings scanned down it could be possible but ive never heard of a destroyer doing this. give it a try and find out :)

Pyfa says that 8 Small smart bombs do 560 per volley, Leopard has 796 EHP (558 Hit point) so unless you get a noob with low skills and you time the bombs so you hit the lower resist perfectly I think it will take 2 volleys which from my understanding rules it out.
