Is finding a C1 in just a couple of hours possible?

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to scan down a C1 wormhole for a few times, but have found it surprisingly hard, mostly due to RL limiting factors. I only have a couple of hours to play at once (I'm a dad). My pilot is enrolled to FW, but I would like to try out wormholes for a change, without actually leaving the FW corporation (so if I don't find a hole, I can just go back to FW for a little while). Why C1? I can't fly a BC yet and I would like to first try it out in a cheap cruiser. So, due to FW the regions I can scan in are cut in half. I wouldn't want to scan places too far out from my "homebase" so I don't waste too much time on travel.

So, are there any tips that would suit this particular scenario? So far I've heard that I should mostly focus on the scan signatures with the highest initial strength, as those are more likely to be wormholes and just leave the harder ones alone. I have semi-decent scanning skills, so trying to keep the scanning as fast as I can, but so far having scanned half a region (HS+LS) I've never really stumbled across any C1 wormholes (mostly just C3 or C5 connections). I do find K162s once in a while.

K162s are a bit problematic, but I would appreciate someone's advice on this. If I were to find a blue K162, leading to C1 or C2 space, how can I find out fast if it is indeed C1 or C2? I can't do C2 with a cruiser, I tried (or it's so slow I might as well not even try). Moreover, a K162 connection usually means someone has been on the other side. Is there any way of knowing how long ago this was and if that someone was simply using the hole for exit?

My plan is to find a C1, jump in with the scanning ship, scan the heck out of it (with BMs) and then jump out and bring my cruiser in. The cruiser then might be left at a safespot in the hole, since I might simply run out of time and would like to go about the wormhole sites on my next playing session, and might have to scan my way out of the hole with the cruiser later on. It kinda leaves me vulnerable as well, since I would probably bring some GSCs and a Mobile Depot with me, which (if I'm correct) are scannable with combat probes. I would at least sprinkle them around to multiple safespots if that makes them harder to be found and destroyed?

Are these hopes of getting into WH with such limited factors just vain? Any advice you could give that would suit this particular situation? Most guides I find focus on what to do in higher level wormholes...

Thank you!

FW should make enough ISK to just buy the locatoin of a C1. Saves you a ton of time.
Look here first: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=topics&f=278
(There was a C2 for sale recently)

Or perhaps make a "Want to Buy location of an empty C1" thread here https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=topics&f=279 (Others are mostly looking for higher tier WHs, good for you?)

Be careful with scammers as usual...

1. There is about 200 C1 WH with high sec static, but only about 100 with low sec static. Rather look in high sec, not ion FW systems.
2. Once in WH you can not jump clone back to normal space. You stuck there. So you have to build your base of operation with at least 2 chars in there (one char is emergency scanner, cloacked out your base for 99,99 % of the time). There is no real way how to live in WH and participating in FW.

also be aware that some corporations/alliances can share with you citadel so you can play on their grounds on their rules but be aware that to not move too much stuff into wormhole because there is no asset safety and if owners unanchor the citadel evrything you moved in[and other people] drops in loot easy to grab by i.e wh owners.

c1 lowsec static wormhole could be good choice if you wanted do pvp as couple of times you will get wormhole to FW system and if you wont get you can roll the static with higgsed gnosis or porpoise and keep rolling untill you get wanted area aka your FW favourite zone etc.

Look up the system on Zkillboard or Tripwire. It will tell you what class it is.
There might be easier ways, but this is how I do it.

Yes.

This makes it possible to find a C1 in under five minutes.

Thank you very much for your help guys, much appreciated!

I don't plan to FW while in the wormhole, it's just a side hobby while I hunt for the holes in the nearby systems; if I don't find anything usable within a 10 jump radius I just go FW, so I achieve at least something during the couple of hours of Eve time...

Buying one or using eve-scout sounds pretty neat, if I don't find anything myself in the following days. Don't see much though in the region I'm staying, so I guess it's just scan-scan-scan and FW for the time being...

Cheers!

Even if it a k162, you can see if the other side is a C1 by looking at the size of ships it allows through.
-> If the k162 information says "medium ships", the other side is a C1.

Don't be in a WH without probes, never.

Type in the name of the hole when you jump in.
