Most items in game have some form of scientific or mathematic equation published so that the players can be educated on how certain modules affect gameplay. How authors get this information is unknown to me. I presume CCP has published this information at some point in time and then someone else has contributed to the numerous wikis that explain the finer details of the maths behind gun tracking or how to work out the best mining yield when in a Rorqual fleet. That is if you survive being hotdropped.
Salvaging wrecks is a part of the game that probably every Eve player has tried at one time or another. What you get from activating a salvage module on a ship wreck comes down to a few knowns and a lot of unknowns. What we do know is Best described here: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Salvaging_101

What we don't easily know is the following:
[list=1]
  • How does the 'chance of salvage' determine the amount of salvage that is dropped?
  • How does a 'successful' salvage attempt equate to the type of salvage that is dropped from a particular Ship wreck?
  • Why are some salvage attempts unsuccessful?
  • Does having maxed out salvage skills equate to more volume of salvage per successful salvage attempt?
  • What are the drop rates for salvaging ship wrecks? Are they random or fixed?
  • [/list

    It would be good if these figures were published so that the whole salvaging system is not entirely based around chance?

    The salvage is determined when a ship is destroyed - not when it is salvaged. The act of salvaging has no influence on what you get.

    Skills and modules only influence the probability that the current salvage cycle will be successful. Noctis also has a per level hull bonus for cycle duration.

    Different salvage drops in different regions. You're more likely to get armor plates in Amarr space and more likely to get malfunctioning shield emitters in Caldari space. Salvage also drops from exploration sites. CCP controls the drop rate and can adjust it as they see fit. They also have a big influence on demand - rigs for the new structures use a LOT of salvage!

    If you would have bothered to read some earlier dev blogs, the formular for turret damage is somewhere there but you can figure this out yourself by very simple 4th-grade calculus.

    Here is a hint, has a logarithmic function in it and something about angles.

    Eve Minions is recruiting.

    This is the law of ship progression!

    Is this published by CCP or your own interpretation? Please link.

    I am not discussing the tracking algorithm. I am discussing how certain modules and how they effect the Eve environment are published in terms of maths and science behind how they work. The drop rates of salvage is not published it seems. So many hours of gameplay can be wasted when not knowing any form of chance rate or salvage tables on volumes you may receive when successful.
