Ammunition Slots and Keybinds

The option to bind keys to "change Ammotype Slot" 1 2 3 4 5 6 and so on, would be nice to have.
In the Fitting Window the Option to Pre-fit those Ammo Slots with the Ammunition you want.

So putting the Crystals in the Ammo Slots in the Fitting Window
Slot 1 to Gleam / 2 Multifreq / 3 Standard / 4 Infrared / 5 Aurora (from shortrange to longrange as an example)

Pilots of course can bind or put whatever Ammotype they like in those Ammo Slots.

Or maybe from another "simpler" improvement point of view.
Have the Option to Sort the Ammunition Type in the Rightclick Menu by Range (when you rightclick on your guns in Space)
Or have it automatically by default, ordered by Range and not by Name. (or the Option to Sort by Name, Range, Tracking)
Showing the Damage Type while hovering over the Ammunition Type would also make sense in my opinion.

I know it is some sort of "skill" to know all the range/Tracking and whatever attributes of every Ammo Type, but choosing your Ammotype with a hotkey is nothing "new"...and also nothing "gamebreaking" in my opinion.

If you see something bad that comes with this option, then please comment, also if you too would like to have this option and see the benefit. Thanks.

I don't think every slot should have key binds for a bunch of ammo types that way to many hotkeys


but it would be cool to see the ability to have like 5 presets

so if your flying a hurricane being able to have one setup for long range (barrage, falloff script for tracking computer)
close range(hail, tracking speed)
fighting shield(republic emp, tracking speed)

etc....

No of course not EVERY WEAPON SLOT with a different key bind...or every AMMOTYPE ON THE MARKET with a different KEYBIND ! (wtf is my english so missunderstandable) :D

Just max. 3 or 4 or 5 SLOTS where we can put AMMO we want in, and have Shortcuts for those slots.


What you ask for is a complete "preset" of different Charges for different modules, not only for changing the Ammunition.
I just want hotkeys for my ammunition, or presorted by Range when i rightclick.

But yeah, your preset state thing, sure i take that too, and i believe some EFT/PYFA/Fitting Warriors here would really go deep with those presets. FCs in Fleet Fights would ask for "Longrange Therm" and all F1 Pilots press the preset...that came with the Alliance Doctrine Ship you bought of the Contract.

...but idk do we really want that ?

The Pilots would not learn the differences and just keep pressing the presets in big fights (in the Newbie Alliances).

But having the Ammo at least sorted by Range, also burns in the Name of the Ammotype. Then we will know if Thorium or Tungsten is longrange Ammo. After 4y i still need to look that up sometime, and donĀ“t tell me i am the only one here :D

Honestly, I'd rather just have preset configurations over keybindable ammo types.

If I'm ratting in my nightmare, for example, when I want conflag I switch a targeting computer to use a range script, because it doesn't need the extra tracking. When I'm using scorch, I don't need the range so I switch to tracking speed scripts.

Ultimately, I said screw it and leave the computers unscripted, because the gains weren't significant enough to warrant the extra clicks.

But if I could press a button and have both crystals and computer(s) switch their ammo, that would be fantastic.

The only problem (and one which completely breaks things) is that you can't switch ammo/charge types while a module is active. So if I hit my "Conflag/range" config but the tracking computer(s) are still running, the script won't change, and I've really not saved myself anything.

Unrelated to the OP, it would be a huge convenience thing to be able to swap charges for modules with no reload time on-the-fly without deactivating the module first. But the vets will complain about how they had to walk to school up hill in the snow (both ways).
