The first room on this complex contains substantial amounts of Pyroxeres, and a mix of two other more common ore.

The gate entry to the complex blocks ships such as Orca, Procurer, Skiff from entering.

So what is the point of having a moderately rare HS ore in such quantities available there if ships that could take advantage of it within a reasonable time frame, cannot get in?

Acknowledged most players that run these complexes do not bother to even look at the ore available. Get in, grab prize, move on to next complex.

Some however might also like to farm the ore, so how difficult to adjust the gate security alogarithm to allow more modern vessels to access the complex.

Can you access it with a venture? If so then use a venture.

Venture and porpoise?

Yet another reason to get rid of accel gates.

It's probably because if you could take Barges and Exhumers in there they would be the best low-skill ships to run the site in.

No, I think that is because the complex was there before barges were introduced and it was simply overlooked.

What we should ask is, if we can get someone to look into the DED complexes, the unrated complexes and escalations to move the gates around a bit, so you can navigate.

Yep, there's a bunch of special-restricted gates that don't let modern ships in because they were just never written in. I imagine tactical and command destroyers have it the worst in this regard.

I thought the acceleration gate disappears when the site is complete but the wrecks and the rest of the stuff to include the asteroids remain for a while.

I could be wrong I haven't done a combat site in a while.

Nope, when the site disappears only the wrecks remain. You can however have a buddy with you, so the sites stays "open".
