Of course not. Look at how long the 2nd amendment war has been going on. They'll just sit back for a little while, reword the document into something even more obfuscating, maybe put a cookie on top and try to push it back out again. They don't even need to do it in one sweep either, little battle won here, little battle won there. All adds up after a while.

American congress is still stupid over this bill. What do they know in and out about the Internet? They're all old people with old fart minds.

There is no way to stop Internet piracy as this is fact. No internet nuke can totally kill off sharing, P2P networks. In line with such, is notorious corporations that would ravage the internet over any 'misplaced' content. Copyright has no legit place on the Internet, if you want something so sacred keep it none digital, or especially keep it off this world wide web, Internet. It's neutral and ours, let no one take this away from us.

Seriously, are all these people this stupid? It's a subject nobody but the Internet that understands. There is no "wider-agreement", there is absolutely NO agreement. Screw this bullshit.

Flawed statement, IMO.

They are winning because we won't draw lines and just call everything 'piracy'. You need to make the line very clear about what is LEGAL and what is ILLEGAL.Regular people won't admit anything they do could possibly be illegal (or should be), even as they pay nothing for tons of copyrighted works while advertisers profit, and no one in the entertainment industry will admit that any of it is legal.

Unfortunately, since our side is the one pirating things and we refuse to acknowledge that they're doing something wrong... we lose... The only way to succeed is to let the pirates hang and only fight for our own rights.

Also flawed.

The internet is not some naturally occurring phenomenon. It's a series of cables and lines, satellites and undersea connections. It's maintained by people and costs money. It is not neutral in any way. It is OWNED and you pay for the SERVICE of using. The company who owns it is subject to the laws of the country the lines move across just like anything else, and in the U.S. copyrights are protected by law.

Somehow, no matter how you put it, i can't see a valid reason for someone who wasn't born untill decades after the original artist's death has any right whatsoever profiting from his work. No side is winning. The Internet is not loosing either.

Nobody owns the internet. Also I don't believe I'm incorrect, piracy and peer networks will always exist -- there is always a way. As for copyright content on the Internet, that would always be leaked....ffs it's internet.

Say whatever about internet connections or whoever OWNS the IP SERVICE. Whatever is on the Internet is by people, not ISP providers or government. Servers are owned by whoever pays them, we agree? Indeed we do pay for internet service, so what is your point? Paying for access? you're not paying fee for your crap on the web (unless, a service or game like EVE).

Look, this is a ridiculous bill and you could make a thread over 9000 pages arguing what is/isn't piracy. The legal system couldn't comprehend in a timely fashion anything truly illegit case-by-case basis anyway. Screw this, like I said.

Internet is neutral as is, and is to be preserved this way for all sake. Not dominated by notorious copyright dogs.

Whatever you put on the Internet stays there, forever.

That's already covered with 'public domain'. It's why you hear old movie quotes on the radio and in techno songs. After something is X years old you don't get copyrights anymore except under special circumstances.

Even if it wasn't, you're basing a broad statement on a small issue that's not connected. Even if you feel copyrights should die with the author, plenty of piracy happens with the author still being alive.

NOTHING is stored on 'the internet' it's all hosted on a computer (servers being a type of computer). The ISP's provide the service of transferring data from one computer to another. THEY OWN the internet that transfers that data. Without the transfer, it's not communication. It's just a home computer not connected to anything.

The internet is not owned by any single entity, it is thousands of seperate ones, maybe hundreds of thousands, so many that effectively no one owns it.

And even without the internet digital piracy is going to happen, be it through a privately owned server, or by transferring it directly through a seperate and secure channel (like a LAN cable)
