Hi. I ll try explain my problem. Sometimes i try to mine with hulks and a booster, for example, a rorqual. The problem is that... THE HULK MINE MORE IN 3 MIN THAT U CAN JETTISON!

freight container is not an opcion becouse i use a MTU with the rorqual for take all the ore and compress them. I cant take all the profit that i can per hulk becouse the time of jettison...

any idea or a next update about that?

P.D. Sorry for the language, i am learning!

Wrong tool for the job. MTU is for pve stuff not mining. Rorqual has tractor beam, use it.

Tractor beam is useless too. The Hulk mine more than his ore hold in 3 min so u cant jettison.

Wait, are you suggesting the hulk should have its yield reduced?

Have you tried just dumping stuff into the same can until you can jettison another one?

Just jettison the can and use it as runoff.

Asteroid > hulk > can > rorq

Hulk puts ore in hold into can after every cycle
Rorq moves ore in can into hold.

Just leave a separate stack of 1 ore so the can doesn't dissapear between cycles.
The can will stay there as long as there's 1 item in it. You can effectively just drag and drop ore from the hulk into the rorq this way.

A 50m3 compression array deployable would be nice.
Like a mobile depot that compresses ore.

Or to balance it have it only be able compress a certain amount of ore per minute, not all at once, or compress it with a lower efficiency.

Enough ore for 100 compresses units? Instead you get 90 or something so there's a loss.

Did you miss the part where he says he uses an MTU?

Even if he jettisons to a can, the MTU tractors the can away from his Hulk so he can't use it anymore. That's the whole point of this thread, because of the MTU and the jettison timer, his efficiency is down.

@OP use a secure container and anchor it. That should give you sufficient overflow capacity. They dont have as large a volume as a jettisoned can, but you only need to use it for a short period before you can jettison again. Anchored containers won't be tractored.

He has a rorq on grid, there is no need for an MTU except being lazy. Have the rorq pull in the cans after waiting for the hulk to dump at least 2 cycle in it. Then, the Hulk will be able to create another can to jettison.

The cycle are 48 sec. And i mine aprox 2500m3 per cycle.

I need 4 cycles for jettison and there is 192 sec more than 3 mins. I mine with several accounts so is not for lazy. Is for efficient.

This is the point.

Yep. My apology.

OP, stop being lazy. Fit a capital tractor to your Rorqual.

Use tractor beam. Then you don't need a new can every 3 minutes.

Or park all your hulks next to the Rorq and mine into the fleet hanger, compress, profit. Hulks are designed for high yield and with small ore hold, if you want a bigger ore hold use mackinaws.

Main idea of the responses is, instead of wanting unnecessary changes, stop being lazy and organise your fleet better.

I used to mine HS belts with 6 hulks, 1 orca, 1 bustard. If I can do that without ever having the same "issues", then really you need to organise better. With the rorq compress you don't even need the hauler.

I'll be more enthusiastic about encouraging thinking outside the box when there's evidence of any thinking going on inside it.

Wait a second, how did you get a strip miner down to 48 seconds?

I ran into this problem once while on a mining op with an Orca that would tractor each can as soon as you jettison the thing. I had to request the Orca pilot let the can sit there for a while so I could just throw ore into it. I bet it's slightly more difficult with a MTU because you can't tell it what to do.

Maybe you could launch a freight can next to you and let it fill for a while, then when you jettison your ore, very quickly throw all of the freight can ore into the jet can.

I wouldn't support increasing the Hulk's ore hold, but I wonder if the very old 3 minute jettison timer could be reduced?

Way to miss the point of the post. He didn't say the booster is always a Rorqual, furthermore perhaps he and the booster are having communications issues; I've known mining boosters to not always be the most helpful types. And then you downplay his choice of logistics tool. That's tacky and not constructive.

It's not EVE's fault if he can't communicate with his fleet member. The problem is 100% on his side.

I'll agree it's a point in favor of moving this thread to Ships and Modules.
