In-Game Events and Gatherings

i haven't been playing for that long, but i noticed that the stars in each system just stand there and look pretty, haven't seen them do much.


is it possible to add some game-play features to them? maybe like solar storms / ejections


...or even a supernova that turns it into a dwarf star, while simultaneously spewing gas and minerals round it , then the players can launch a large nuke into it to restart it and make it active again?
