CCP please fix lag already

There is never going to be no lag in Eve. If you're experiencing lag in or around Jita it's because 2000-ish players are currently trying to nuke the node.

If you're experiencing lag anywhere else it's probably because 2000-ish people are trying to nuke each other and your system just happens to be sharing the node with them. CCP are, in fact, working on dynamically moving systems with tons of activity to their own reinforced node without standing them up or down, but it turns out that this is a bit hard to do. Sort of like moving 2 miles of freeway 500 yards while the traffic on it keeps going.

Other than that the issue may very well be neither yours nor CCP's fault. It's possible something in the path your internet takes to CCP's servers is just shitting the bed.

yes, I'm playing this game for 8,5 years non-stop and I can tell when it lags and when it doesn't.

You've played 8.5 years, non stop, and still don't realize that just because a system is empty, doesn't mean its not under load? One "server" (blade) will run a few systems at once. Thus, big battle next door affects you in your 'empty system'.

So based off your ignorance of the obvious facts, I suggest you stop being a whining noob.

A little technical correction.

1 blade = multiple CPUs (aka nodes)
1 node = multiple systems, though according to devs they are rarely next door. I believe they do try to keep all nullsec regions on the same nodes as eachother, but it does mean that you can tidi from a fight on opposite ends of the map.

And that brings up another thing... is OP experiencing tidi or lag? Doesn't make it clear, and makes me think he's lying about the 8.5 years because otherwise he'd be more specific. And probably less whiny.

Maxim 6. If violence wasn’t your last resort, you failed to resort to enough of it.

The server ticks only once per second. Everything you do in game will have a delay, but it isn't lag per se. In PvP, I do not see that as a problem, as it's the same for everyone.

You're able to read? If I meant TiDi, I'd have written TiDi.

no. Its not graphic lag, its network lag kinda you doubleclick in space and your ships takes 2 seconds to start moving. Very devastating effect during pvp encounters. I'd guess it occurs when server is overloaded and cant process requests timely.

Ive noticed it during data relic sites for the last couple months. Not on my end though and I play on a super computer.

Check your wireless connections to see how many other networks are visible to you. If it looks like a lot, switch from 2.4 to 5 Ghz for your wireless and this may solve your problem. Wifi networks bleeding into each other create a lot of interference.

I also notived more lag since the last patch, especially in the evening. Up to 2s delay when i do certain actions, like opening right click menu to warp to a bookmark. When i have multiple clients open, some lag, some dont.

In short, the after Ascension lag is back in full force.

Im on a 100mbit cable connection. No wireless connection in between.

The problem is that it's not always easy to distinguish between client lag, game server lag and connection latency because the affect on gameplay is the same - you click your mouse and nothing happens for a few seconds. Even if you have a fast machine and can positively rule out client lag, you can't rule out latency in your internet connection without running some ping tests. A fast connection to your ISP is only the first hop among many to CCP's servers (it's also the only one that you have any control over).

Running a traceroute from the East Coast of the US, it currently takes me about 100 m/s to reach CCP - but only 10 m/s to get to my ISP. Which means 90% of my latency has nothing to do with my personal connection speed. A bottleneck at any of the relay routers between here and there could send my latency plummeting no matter how fast my personal connection is.

CCP doesn't allow pinging the game server directly, but you can ping their admin server or another nearby address (such as a nearby commercial datacenter in London at 85.13.193.200) to get a general idea. Just go to your command line and type "ping eveonline.com". You can also download one of the many traceroute programs from Sourceforge to check the connection speed at each point in the chain.

Don't simply assume that all issues are game server lag. Given that many people don't have any issues at all, this sounds like a latency problem.

When I have lag it is because Steam decides to update something in the background.

I get lag occasionally when opening my industry tab.

I think having two kids each streaming Netflix while their 600 iPhone apps are updating might have something to do with it.
