ok so ive been solo pvping for almost 2 years and I had a weird predicament where i had scramed a cepter and i had to stay within my blaster range but without my mwd on i was slower than him so i turned it on and it didnt go much faster and it went only just above the speed of the other cepter so i was just on my falloff range of my blasters and i didnt know why even with my mwd on i wasnt going as fast i recorded it so ill link the video but idk if i should have kept range or if its just a normal mechanic or i could have done something better. now i know my piloting wasnt the greatest just because im not used to this style of pvp or this ship but id love to hear some advice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4c65zwTcdo the ship seemed to stay within a certain range and slowed down at 2km and ended up going back to 2.5km instead of approaching and staying on 0

i'm not a technical, mathematical expert but i know that when your range is so short (like yours was with electron blasters) it's difficult for your ship to "approach" the target ship that close, for whatever reason - it's just, like, too close to keep approaching. Like, if you approached any closer, you wouldn't be approaching you'd be pretty much bumping instead of approaching, which is kind of what you want, but at the same time you don't want to overshoot him. I guess that's kind of why it works the way it does.

whenever I've wanted to get super close like that (not often) i've used "keep at range' at like 500 metres instead of approaching, not that i recommend doing that. I also don't recommend using such short range weaponry in the first place, generally speaking - especially in a fit like that, where you have next to zero range control. not a fan of your fit, either, by the way

well i think it also might have been the server lagging cuz it took a few seconds to see that i killed him but im asking cuz i usually fly the hecate and the hecate has worked wonders for me and when i use approach it always tries to get to 0 of the ship this time i found it weird that even with the mwd it tried to keep range of 2km when usually approach is meant to get right ontop of the guy. and the fit i was using is meant to kill ceptors and nothing else its supposed to get away from the main fleet and have the ceptors chase after to then get caught by me and die without any support but nonetheless the reason i posted about this was because of the way it didnt approach and instead kept at range of 2km. but eh it happens guess imma learn from it hehe
