Umm, how about just spend a week or so on Shield skills and fit it up like it should be fit?

Seriously, I would not recommend an Armour Nightmare. Tank is ~ok~, DPS is pretty meh. Shield fit, you can have dank tank and dank DPS.

Seriously, train shields, an XL booster, and three faction specific (vs the damage profile of the rats you face) is really enough, especially if you fit an AB and a MJD to gtfo of trouble if your tank isn't going or you are going to cap out in a mission (not many L4 mission rats can hit past 100km), you can moonwalk yourself to safety.

Also, fit tachyons and learn to manually pilot and use your AB to reduce to reduce transversal for faster targets in multifrequency range. Always use faction ammo; use a small secure container in your cargo hold to keep unused crystals out of the reloading options and keep the clutter down.

Megapulse and scorch kick ass, but the usefulness is a lot higher on an optimal-bonused vs a tracking-bonused hull.

Since you were looking for an armor ship that is more powerful than your Navy Apocalypse, try the Paladin.

Right ... I understood. I really thought also that armor tank is not good idea - now I am sureSmile May be I may receive some good shield tank fitt? To prepare my skills please?

Short info: I played the game years ago for six mounts (2012) and now I returned from about a mount (was mailed for new alfa clonings) and I don't understand good the game, so my questions are seriousSmile

Thanks for Paladin idea too - it is will be the next ship, I wont to try this Nightmare nowBig smile

Armor nightmare is alright, but it's a niche ship for small gang PVP (the 7 mids give you a lot of options). In the world of unorthodox loadouts, the armor Barghest does the trick a bit better.

Since it's not relevant to your interests, here's a decent pve fitting, albeit a bit overtanked for missions, but you get the idea: https://zkillboard.com/kill/60427742/

The ship seems to do wonders with polarized mega pulses, but i suggest starting with something less exotic.

Think you are a little inexperienced to be flying a Nightmare even for PvE. Not that my advice will change your mind...

Have fun Pirate

Of course i would say "think outside the box" but that would be a bad pun if aimed towards a dead guy in a coffin.

That you didn't seem to notice that a PVP loadout isn't a PVE loadout makes me think that no matter how you fit it it's probably gonna die. My suggestion is to get back to basics. Learn how to max out a tank for a specific role, then learn how to dial it in to be just effective enough. Fitting tools are your friend.

Do yourself and I a favor and fly a Raven to learn shield tanking first. Everything else will make my Master very sad.

Chelm Soran will thank you in advance!

Nightmare:

Low slots: 2 adaptive nano-plate a-type deadspace, & a dc2. 3 heat sinks.

Mids: Combinations of Sensor Boosters, Tracking Comps, and a Web & Target Painter combo, all help. Possibly a Cap Recharger if you can squeeze one in.

Highs: Guns. A cloak? 'Regard' Cap Transmitter if you're in fleet.

Rigs: Avoid inertia ones, as they will reduce your armor.

Add a DPS rig ( ideally the one that increases raw damage, NOT rate of fire ) if you run Pulses. If you fly solo you may need the rig that reduces Capacitor Drain if you plan on running Tachyons.

The Nightmare using Tachyons is hard to make Cap Stable. So you need a Cap Buddy, unless you fit a special rig. With Pulses it's very stable.

They're good boats. Just slow to move with.

Shield-tanking a Nightmare means you can fix the inertia issues, but if that Cap runs out your defences switch off.

From show-info on the module
Quote:
The Reactive Armor Hardener possesses an advanced nano membrane that reacts to armor layer damage by shifting between resistances over time. This makes it able to align its defenses against whichever incoming damage types are prevalent.

The module spreads 60% resistance over the four damage types, starting at 15% in each.

Only one of this module type can be fitted at a time.

And that fit is a PVP fit, not a PvE fit. Several of the fitted items are inappropriate for L4 missions.
Plus 6 months of training is probably not enough to fly a faction battleship. Sit in, yes. Fly and use well, no. Stick to cheaper and smaller ships and get your skills up. Better skills will improve your mission times more than a ship upgrade will.

Not that this will apply but if you have Logi Armor Nightmares and Rattle snakes can work very well.

My corp uses them with Nestors (No Comparable Shield Logi) in a C5. No need to worry about the drifter killing you tank if your resists are passive and you only really need 2 mods for resistance+1-2 rigs so you still have loads of free lows for DPS. Then you have bulk slots for utility. paints, webs, scram, Omnis, TCs, Drone Navs you name it you have space for it.

Of course, unless you have Guradian fits like the unbrave newbies you don't.

You can fit 6x 1600mm plates on a Rattlesnake and you can fit 4x mining lazors on a Nightmare if you want but the question remains, should you?
