Can anyone give me some clarification on the finer details of how kill rights work in highsec? Let's say I'm in a fleet with my corp mates and somebody on grid pays to activate kill rights on me, do my corp mates get to help blast my aggressor, or would CONCORD not like that idea?

your corpies will get CONCORDOKKEN if they initiate hostile acts against others. If they give you logistics support, then IIRC, they'll get a suspect timer from you and will be fair game for all and sundry.

edit: you can 'clear' killrights by undocking in a noobship and having a corpmate (or alt) activate the killright and then, surprise, kill you.

When a pilot has a killright activated on them, they go suspect.

If a pilot is a suspect anyone can attack them without concord getting involved.

Suspect pilots are allowed to defend themselves against anyone that does attack them.

No they don't, kill right activation will flag you as suspect, allowing anyone and everyone to engage you.

Anyone that does will get a limited engagement flag allowing you to defend yourself from them.

Your Corp mates can help only inside as giving you logistics aid ,
though in the process will inherit a suspect flag themselves should you have any PvP related flags.
At this point they're in the same boat as you and are allowed to defend themselves should they be attacked but only from those that actually attack them.
It's entirely possible for both of ye to be having two (or more) entirely separate fights and be unable to help each other byond reopening.

Yeah crime watch is a dumpster fire if ever I saw one.
Definitely needs iterating on.
