Is there a proper way to tell if a system in null sec is friendly/hostile?
Sometimes I need to shop around in null but I cannot tell if that particular system is friendly from market window.
Thank you.

Very Little of null sec is NRDS which means Not Red Don't Shoot. In NRDS null you can dock as a neutral and operate without interference from the locals but that does not mean roaming reds won't blow you up.

The vast majority of null is NBSI which stands for Not Blue Shoot It. That means everyone is shot and killed unless they are known to be friendly.

"Red" and "Blue" status is something that is determined by agreements between leaders of the involved: corps, alliances and / or coalitions.

You being in an NPC corp means that you are pretty much going to be shot at by everyone and unable to dock nearly everywhere.

The only region of space that I know to be NRDS currently is Providence. However even going there while you might be able to dock you don't have any real good way to tell the difference between who is "red" or not without looking every single pilot up on a website.

I would not recommend going into null sec to buy or sell anything. I live in null sec and when I need to bring stuff in I either use help from intel channels, friends, and alt scouts on other accounts or I cyno jump in it with my Jump Freighter. Thinking that you will just run in and out of null to buy something cheap is not going to be a good idea. Even running into provi for example while you might be able to dock and buy what ever it is that you are looking for there is a high chance that you will run into roaming reds and loose your stuff while trying to get back to high sec.

If you want to operate in null you need to understand interdiction bubble mechanics and should probably have access to local intel channels or be traveling there with the intention of loosing your ship.

If you still want to try it then all that I can say is just fly there and see if you can dock before you buy the stuff.

In nullsec, assume no system is friendly unless you are a member of a corporation that lives there.

You can dock and use the market at any NPC station in nullsec, however it is a safe bet that every ship you see - including the NPCs will try to kill you.

In Providence, neutrals can dock at stations and outposts, some will charge a docking fee. It's unlikely you'll be allowed to dock at Citadels. While locals in Provi won't shoot at you, everyone else will and you have no way to tell them apart.

Joining a nullsec corporation has several advantages:

1. Your alliance/coalition will set standings so you can tell friend from foe.
2. Intel channels will let you know when danger is approaching
3. Jump Freighter service will let you move stuff to/from highsec relatively safely.
4. You will have a reasonably secure base of operations for whatever gameplay you want to participate in. Nullsec isn't all about fleet fights - some of us are industrialists.
