Loki - worth for PVE?

Dear community,

As a dedicated gallente droneboater i startet crosstraining Minnie ships since some time ago, and till now i even have decent (shrug) missile skills. I can use medium T2 projectiles (arty and auto) and in a few days i will have finished Minnie Cruiser 5.

While beeing gallente, for obvious reasons i skipped the Proteus, and feel fine using my Ishtar in L4´s.

So, here my question: Is the Loki worth the "go" for L4´s? Will it be able to perform as good as the Ishtar (or better)? Please keep in mind that i have NO clue about strategic cruisers, and if some of you say yes please feel free to post some fittings.

You could try this, but otherwise the range limitations of medium ACs make it kind of meh.

Its pretty far from optimal, You could cover it in faction/deadspace and it would probably still complete missions noticablely slower than a t2 fit maelstrom.

Plus it tanks like a paper bag once its webbed even with t3 resists.

I never used the missile loadout but I also found the Loki to be meh for l4s. Not as good as Ishtar. Train large projectiles and use the obvious gal/min ship.

you obviously have never flown one.

Loki does L4s just fine, does them just as fast as a T2 maelstrom and tanks a ton better. Lokis murder webbing frigates fast.

T2 maelstrom is a good deal cheaper though

I have both a t2 mael and a pve loki, they do L4s in about the same time but the loki tanks them better, my loki also runs sanctums in its sleep (a T2 maelstrom will struggle to tank sanctums). The difference is the mael costs about 240mil with a full T2 pve fit and the loki is about 950 mil with a decent pve fit (RF AB and gyros, gist b-type hardeners, T2 shield booster)

Not sure what you're doing to have trouble tanking Fountain sanctums in a Mael.

Spend 950mil on a Mael and it will almost certainly do better than the Loki.

Where are you missioning? and do you intent to keep the Ishtar?

What is effective for me really comes down to the NPC's you intend to fight.

I used the Ishtar for long time in Gallente space before getting a Proteus and using it for the Serpentis missions (It is faster) and the Ishtar for the rest. I also have a Hype for a few single pocket missions with webbing towers. Already having T2 Projectiles and Minny cruiser 5 I was looking at the loki in regards to missions against Amarr (Armour fit) and Angels (Shield Fit), in the end I bought a Sleipnir, I just feel that it is so close in performance if not better than the Loki, I still would not use it against Serpentis/Guristas as Kinetic is the one damage type projectiles cannot deal as a primary characteristic and it's resists are not as ideal either.

Thanks for all the valid answers, community.

I´m still not sure if it´s worth, so another question pops up. Will it be enough to skill the subsystem skills to 4 or is 5 a must for beeing "useful"? This will make a change in skilling up for several days.

I´m missioning in gallente space atm, so most (90%) of the missions will be agains serps (i´m declining missions against other factions), but there are some occational missions against angels, and thats what i´m looking for.

Do you have some fits handy i could use?
