Rorqual Nerfs

Issue : Rorquals mine too much.
CCP Solution : Nerf the Rorqual back to non-use.

Alternative Solution:

Look at the environement they work in i.e. mining belts anomolies.
Instead of nerfing the ship why not nerf the environment.


  1. Make warping inside the anom restriced the same as a LvL 4 mission. (No change to ship)Big smile

  2. Currently even a collossal anomoly is only 50km in diameter, increase this to 150km or more. Put a lot more dust/particulate matter in it. This will increase the travel time between asteroids without nerfing any ships. (No nerf to ship)Big smile

  3. Increase the speed of mining drones to help with longer range asteriods. (BOOST)Big smile also has the potential to make stealing drone more viable for the unwary.

  4. Massively increase the range of Survey Scanner or bonuses on ship to make those juicy asteriods tempting(BOOST)Big smile

  5. Just using these mechanics you can control the rate of mineral creation without constantly nerfing the very items (Ships) that keep your limited player base content.

In conclusion stop always looking to nerf the player items and look more at the environment they are used in. Be creative!!!

Nerf the rorqual because the rorqual is the problem.

Making anom sites bigger makes life harder for barges more than it does the rorqual and there's no need to nerf barges that way.

P.s. There is no way to keep players like you content. You want more and more.

Except, few problems with this, this doesn't actually solve the problem. Your solution here is basically a weird and round-about way of nerfing mineral income, but it affects all ships not just the Rorqual (aka, the problem) and has less of an impact on multi-box fleets than on solo players.

End result, either you've round-about nerfed the Rorqual's income enough through frustration, or you haven't and further nerfs are needed anyway.

In either case CCP's solution is the better and more straightforward one.

Game balance is not a Rube Goldberg machine, there are no points for creative solutions, only effective ones.
