If EFT is to remain inactive and you really don't like Pyfa (I use it for some things and find it ok) but prefer EveHq as I can do skill cues, ship fittings, follow my buy sell orders, keep track of my manufacturing And check the API's of those wishing to join corp, all in one place.

It is an open source program and the main developer is always looking for help, so if you have some time and the skills hit him up on the EveHq forums..

My opinions are mine.

It really is getting harder and harder to justify $23 a month for each sub.

Pyfa has come on a LONG way BTW from what you might have seen before - my earlier reaction was similar to yours but largely it is very usable these days.

Yesterday I installed Microsoft .Net framework 4.6.1. After that, EFT refuses to work with the API key where the "access mask" >2 147 483 647. If you open the API access Key to at least half of the information "access mask" becomes >4 000 000 000.

This has nothing to do with .NET FX. Do NOT select the Private Information / Clones for your API key (EFT doesn't use it anyway) and API key created will be accepted by EFT

This is a known issue described here: https://developers.testeveonline.com/blog/article/technical-note-integer-sizes-and-the-xml-api

For obvious reasons EFT will never be updated to properly handle the increased API key value

If it was still being worked on, it wouldn't take a minute to post that and then continue.

EFT isn't open source, so no one can take over.

There was a hack a few pages back to update the database, but that won't change any of the logic, formulas, functions, effects, etc that changed since EFT was last updated.

Want Pyfa, but with more features?

if hes not going to maintain it anymore he should just make it open source and throw it up on github or something and let the community take care of it..

Who knows though maybe the guy got sick or got hit by a bus or something.

I'm using Pyfa now as I don't have too many other options that I like. You are right, it's definitely changed a lot. It's still not EFT. But it's a great second. I'll stay with Pyfa for now. Thank you for the recommendation

If you are new to EFT or have a question check FAQ.txt included to EFT archive before asking here. This little document covers few questions which have been asked multiple times already.

Officially supported platforms: Windows XP, Windows 7. There is no plans for non-Windows versions.

Known issues:
  • Mining Laser Crystals do not list all their skill requirements due to ore reprocessing skills are not included in EFT database
  • Industrial Core I will display incorrect Heavy Water consumption quantity when fitted to Rorqual.

Possible technical issues and workarounds:
  • Issue: Tooltips for missing skills indicator or ship bonuses appear empty without any text.
    • Solution: Create a shortcut for EFT.exe and add /OldHints switch to the Target box. Launch EFT with this shortcut.
  • Issue: Item icons display incorrectly, usually with black background.
    • Solution: If you are using 16-bit screen color depth try switching to 32-bit. Also try "Force high-color icons" option in EFT Preferences.
  • Issue: Some text, most noticeable groupbox captions in Setups window appear bolded and truncated.
    • Solution: This is caused by incompatibility between EFT and your Windows theme. Try a different one or disable use of themes for EFT only (Open Properties dialog for EFT.exe, click "Compatibility" tab and check "Disable visual themes").
  • Issue: On the first start or after an update EFT gives errors on startup like "File not found" or "Read beyond end of file" or "Access violation".
    • Solution: If this happens after an update refer to FAQ.txt for recommended update procedure. If this happens on the first start make sure you've instructed software you are using to extract archive to keep directory structure when extracting files.

I don't need EFT updates when the game hasn't changed much. I just need an update that puts all the carrier/FAX and mining barge changes in. Everything else is still reasonably current.

Many of the cap changes seem missing. Dread slots are wrong. Nag is 5 highs now, etc.

That is because EFT has not been updated since the Citadel expansion, April 2016.

EFT is nearly a year out of date.

PYFA is the only current up to date fitting tool available.
