Does Eve run properly under Mac Os Sierra?

hey community,

my computer still runs with mac os 10.8.5 (mountain lion).
i never had any major issues with the launcher or the game.
Since a couple of months i suffer from reduced, up to slow-motion-like, performance (low fps).
E.g. in crowded stations, during the hacking mini-game, in full anomalies, …

My Computer:
Macbook Pro Retina (2.3 GHz i7, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB)
Im playing with graphic settings at low/mid mostly. Even if i set them off/low, the performance doesn't improve noticeable.

Do you think it might be good to upgrade to Sierra?
Does anyone know and can confirm Eve runs under Sierra without (major) issues?
Any other ideas how i can tweak performance or is my machine "out of date"?

Thanks in advance

I have a 2012 iMac. 8GB of ram and 512mb GPU. i run EVE under Sierra and have had no know major issues.

I wish I could tell you it will be a golden goose to upgrade OS, but that would be a wishful thought. As software will be software and do weird things.
Best of luck with your upgrade!

I have basically the same configuration and EVE crashes unexpectedly 2-3 times per session.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

My advice would be: if you can, let it run under 'bootcamp windows' and you are set. It's totally smooth, lag- and crash-free. This is what it was built for.

I run it under Sierra mostly without problem and performance issues.
Only issues are in 99/100 cases caused by wrong update and it's get corrected when ccp do proper release next day or so.

I wish they will do more testing on mac and less frequent updates on launcher ... or get rid of launcher completely.

short story: when ccp doesnt ****** up launcher update, game is stable and performing well.

Launcher bugs can be fixed pretty fast if you have your launcher forget current version of EVE. It forces a recheck and downloads proper updates.

This is exactly what is happening to me! The game constantly freezes up, at least twice or so per day of maybe 3 hour play session. It doesn't seem to happen in station, but in space the game is unplayable. It always seems to freeze at the most inopportune time. Middle of roam? Freeze. Middle of huge fight? Freeze. Seriously. It totally blows.

Enter grid and you're already dead, destined to be reborn and fight another day.

Sad to say I have had the freeze happen also.

A freeze when undocking from Jita can be a little irritating.. lol.

Mid '14 iMac here w/32GB and whatever was the best video option at the time. I often run two clients simultaneously in windowed mode, and crashes/freezes are extremely rare to nonexistent.

Hi,

my main eve computer is on sierra for several weeks now (imac retina 27), currently i have now (unusual) problems with any of my macs.

the most anyoing bug currently is if i switch windows with alt tab or mouse to a non eve window and go back the mouse buttons/functions are sometimes inversed (left / right). you can simply fix this if you press esc for the settings menue and return to the game.

Yeah my game keeps getting critical errors about 2-5 times per session. I'm not sure what to do or if CCP will fix this.

are you guys running Loglite and filing them with CCP? if not. they can't do much to improve things.

I'm not sure if we're experiencing the same issue, but I was getting critical errors (game would freeze up/show the windows crash box) frequently as well. At least 2-5 a day as you describe. I lowered my texture resolution to low and it seemed to fix the issue. I'm not sure (though it would seem) if I was running out of video memory, but setting the game to potato settings fixed it.
