Has it dawned on you yet that you've been trolled?

sort of like a laxative ? Yes, the body needs a good purge periodically. I could take it further and say they give some people the ***** (metaphorically) but I won't.

I know right. I'm told that I was trolled. But I do some trolling myself and don't mind getting trolled. So here I am being told I was trolled, but I don't feel trolled.

Was I supposed to care about something?

Where can I return the unused portion of the trolling?

This whole thread is a fine example of people trolling themselves.

Why do so many typical EVE players dislike CODE?

Their implementation isn't perfect, but they share that with the majority of experienced players and player groups.

Their message is perfect: they're trying to follow nullsec principles in highsec: using a large organization with the ability to concentrate offensive power to control something valuable to other players, and monetize that control (in this case through blackmail implemented as rental). The "something" isn't a specific volume of space of course, but the parallel is obvious.

Hating on what CODE tries to do is a rejection of the way nullsec works.

This is problematic for the player base of course. How can a collection of people who leap to the defense of fun-vampires - claiming they and their behavior are essential to the game - dislike CODE's objectives?

Not with logic, but rational discourse is not a requirement in this forum. In EVE it's permitted (perhaps required) to have two or more mutually contradictory opinions at once, and to support them all with lies and half-truths made up on the spot. Given time this will inevitably lead to people accidentally stabbing themselves in the back, but this is also approved EVE behavior - the only real issue is the poor aim rather than the act itself /lol.

IMO there are only two issues with CODE (and the vast majority of EVE players will deny that one of them is valid /lol:

  • They hunt people solo Venture mining in highsec , meaning they're ok with interfering with new players' attempts to set up basic cashflow to fund their preferred activities. This is good behavior according to most players, but I don't agree.
  • They sometimes attack people who've already paid for protection. It's probably just careless record-keeping, but that's not a valid excuse.

If they did neither of these, and their PR people were a bit better at their jobs, I'd donate to their "war-chest".

Quis troglotariet ipsos troglodytares?

The majority of CODE are bored nullbears running alts in HS whilst AFK ratting/mining.in deep blue NS.

Apparently there is a great deficit of salt down there.

It feels so hearth-warming to disagree with you on so few points.. Blink

Dunno.. from what I hear about solo highsec ventrue mining (mainly from you), I'd say shooting one is among the three most kind things to do with such a player. Though I'm a special scrapflake in that matter, and to each of their own.

At first glance that doesn't seem to make sense, but I'm probably missing something (the only latin I know is from common "tags" :)

Would you mind translating it?

Thanks. Nice epigram :)

I was being too literal with "Troglodyte", and not paying attention to the context /sigh.

P.S.

My longer post above (#64) wasn't intended to be a troll.

I don't see why anyone but a new player would object to CODE's objectives, and I'm mystified as to why they are the only entity in the game that is widely disliked and reviled.

If they were more consistent in their enforcement, and gave a substantial "Venture miner's discount", I'd probably have my Alpha buy a license them just on principle.

They are certainly not the only reviled entity ingame.
Just over-represented cos they keep making threads to draw attention.

They are consistent in their enforcing of the Code.
But the Code has more loop-holes than j-space.

Nonetheless, its a hilarious and pretty ingenious document.
Well worth a read.
