Planetary Interaction - Extractor Head Arrangement Save/Recall

Back when probe scanning was first changed, it was very labor intensive to place the probes individually, and it was improved so that you can click a button and the probes snap to a pre-defined arrangement and you can shift the position of a group of probes together instead of one at a time.

I'd like to see a similar feature for positioning extractor heads in Planetary Interaction. I's like to be able to select a group of extractor heads and re-position them as a group. It would also be nice to have a feature where the extractor heads can snap to a few different common arrangements, and possibly save custom arrangements.

Planetary interaction could use some love. Your placement idea amongst other things.

Maybe it's time to also add some icons so we can see from distance what goods are produced and where ...
It possibly was already posted somewhere, just wanted to bump it up with OP ideas also.

The only problem I can see with that is I don't think it would save you much time.

Yea there are outlier cases where you can drag the heads around collectively, but more often than not you need to tweak each individual one if you're min/maxing. Additionally, grabbing 3 or 4 heads at the same time is unlikely to fit in a new optimal spot without adjusting 1 or 2 of them to fit the new optimal spot optimally.

If your goal is always find the absolute best placement for all 10 extractor heads, then, you are right, this feature would save you very little time because you are never going to get the 100% best solution by moving them all as a group. However, you are assuming that everyone plays the game like that. This kind of placement may be an, "outlier case," to you, but for me it is normal.

Because you can always get more if you are willing to go the extra mile and min/max every single extractor head, I would never want to take that away from any player. However, for myself, I've just found that for the amount of extra time it takes to precisely place the individual extractor heads to get that extra 5% is just not worth it to me. I just place my extractor heads visually, according to my scan results, generally over the hot spots and move on to more entertaining things in my game life. I still make 95% of what I was making when I agonized about the placement of every individual extractor head, and yet I spend 70% less time on the process of restarting my extractors when I just do it visually.

It's just not worth it to me to be that precise, but, right now, moving them as a group is just not an option, so I MUST place each individual extractor head anyway...

I agree! Since the Processor icons for the structures all basically look the same for Basic, Advanced and High Tech, it would be nice if we could see icons for the output of each Processor, OR slightly different icons to distinguish the different types of processors, or both!
