as well.

As the game stands and for the time I've spent in it, UI upgrades would be nice, but there are way to many issues right now with the current UI and game that, sometimes playing just becomes a nightmare.

Great idea - IMO, EVE isn't ready for it. They really need to improve the load times for many of the windows, and probably figure out a way to cache more data to the client so it helps those load times.
The back ground download was suppose to make it so you could keep your install base smaller, but then you can end up with lag changing systems. I would much rather have something that would cache my industry job and market data in the background after I log in, so instead of like a 30-60 sec delay from opening the market or industry window, I only see like a 5-10 sec delay and it would update the info as I moved about New Eden.

Do you people not understand that artists and bug fixers are different people?

Oh hey, it's this thread! I really hope this actually gets implemented, it's one of the best ideas I've seen on PFAID in years and even has spiffy graphics as an example.

Quality post, 10/10, honestly can't believe I'm happy to see a thread on here getting bumped.

While I'm generally the first person to bring stuff like this up Amarisen flat out said that there are UI issues they feel should take priority over something like this.

That said, the issues they're bringing up would more likely be handled by a system's engineer or programmer rather than anyone in charge of UI design or functionality. Stuff like market data load times are more of a back-end problem than a UI one. Same for station load and some other things. So you're not wrong either, your complaint just wasn't entirely accurate.

This is a place for the discussion of new ideas, not "second guess CCP's capability of adding this particular feature" discussion.

I loved the animation, but with a 1 hertz server to client update rate, there could be so many hits and reps I don't see how it could work.

Say you hit an enemy for 500, fleetmates hit for 2500, the target self-reps for 500 and is logi-repped for 3000, what would it show?

There are multiple options, but my guess would be that the meter would increase by 500, then have another 500 in yellow tacked on the end, that dissapears after a second

I like the concept, but also have concerns for how it would be functional in the larger scales, without killing the server as well. If that can be resolved, AND it comes with an on/off toggle, then yeah, sure +1 from me.

I'd imagine all that data was already processed and sent, so any extra processing was client side and probably wouldn't increase server load.

Maybe each tick the yellow damage dealt flashes first, and then the relevant red bar(s) quickly move to the position of net damage and reps.

as ive said -1 for me;

useless and redundant. people can't even check their own hp and broadcast properly in fights and you still want to add a feature that will add more distraction.

check the fight logs for damage dealt, more useful than this.

This is actually a pretty good point. This would require the server to transmit something about the individual components, even if it's just a ratio of damage to healing, which would be a back-end code change and result in more network load compared to today where it just transmits the change in HP on the target. Ugh

I think i will support this by giving it a +1 as i can't really see any downsides with this.

I mean, even peoples was complaining over the cycle indication circle around the modules when that was suggested or added to the game. It just makes some things a bit better UI wise when you can get a graphical presentation of things like that over having to read a log for example.

The log is only usefull to see the exact damage if you want to see that.
