Why is there no discussion about the "beta" map? It's bloody awful!

I am shocked to see that there is no discussion about the beta map here.

It's almost impossible to see the lines between systems, there is no need for this weird hybrid Solar System/Star System map (We have the solar system map for that), I can't find any way to turn off Jump Bridge Lines, there is no way to flatten the map properly, the list goes on.

If this actually replaces the map we have now with no way to roll back, people are going to riot in the streets.

There is your feedback. Despite all the shortcomings and utterly unusable "features", many people love(d) the new map back then. Luckily, CCP stopped working on this piece of rubbish a while ago ... but apparently forgot to turn off the auto-participation for the Test the New Map. One can only hope that the guys who worked on the new new system map and scanning system that was showcased in the last o7 Show and showed some promise (and is still not nearly as good as the old system as it still lacks fully filled scanner progress bars and instead has these tiny, narrow lines under (or is it above, really hard to tell if you have lots of sigs) each sig) are going to work on the new new universe map as well.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

Oh my OCD..

The new probe window thing will drive me insane. New icons we didn't need before will not help either. They still haven't fixed that over- or underline thing that is supposed to mark anomalies or not.

Beta map works exactly like the original map, but with a lot less guesswork trying to figure out which of the imperceptible mess of jump routes yours will be.

Use abstract view.
It flattens the map.

But yes the map is garbage and non of the features work.

You can still rotate and mess up the alignment of the map though. There needs to be a proper way to anchor it totally flat.

To be honest: I didn't even notice the Beta-map is still aviable in the game. I always used the old map and I am going to use the old map in the future. Too much guesswork with the Beta-map.

And what happens when they remove the old map?

This is why we need to let CCP know how crap the beta map is.

It's to the point where I write down routes in a Word document as I go - only using the map for plotting new ones.

Try messing around with dotlan maps, maybe it'll meet your needs. It is far more abstract than the "real" map, and it's actually useful. You could take a look at the ombey eve maps if they are still out there anywhere. They are old school, but they are abstracted in a way that gives a better sense of place than any other maps. If i could get a dotlan maps with an ombey abstraction, *squee*.

I kinda wish I had the time to list all the gate connections in EvE, make a pen and paper map, and make a program to tell shortest route.

next patch will have an update for the scanning interface and the system map. I assume the galaxy map would be next once the system map is done.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value
