So im very new to eve. Done some career agent missions. Decided id do industriy. Then military and asvanced military. I stopped there as i was certainl military was the way to go.

I also enlisted in FW thinking this is it. The career path for me. I loaded up my merlin with turrets and shields went to the nearest contested system. Loaded in BOOM dead... so i thought maybe ill try a blue system with minimal contestion. After 11 jumps. Entered the battle. BOOM dead.

Someone explain how do i do this stuff. Is there another way i can serve as a military guy and make my way in the eve universe. I seem to watch countless videos and read guides. But none of them really explain in a way i understand. I usually get the response. Join a corporation and get their advice. I have applied for 2 corps but still waiting.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Apologies for spelling errors. Posting from phone.

Believe it ornot, but you are way ahead of where I was when I started. You might consider sending out more corp aps to expediate your process. On your merlins, make sure that you fit as many mods as your ship has slots for.
The one that I saw also had what we call "dual tank." You had a shield booster and an aemor repairer. This is no bueno.
In a shield ship (merlin is one) you want to put only shield tank stuff on it.
For a merlin, I'd start with a rack of blasters (the short range high dps hybrid), a medium shield extender if it will fit, 1mn afterburner, warp scrambler, and stasis webifier.
Lock him up when he's brushes against your range, hold him down with both hands and pummel him with your small neutron blasters loaded with antimatter. Your shield and natural resist bonus from the ship will help you sithstand the heat while you apply your melters.
In the low slots, place a Damage Control Unit, nanofiber internal structure, and magnetic field stabilizer.
In the rigs, go either core defense field extenders or the collision accelerator and hybrid burst aerator.

Off hand, I'd say that's a pretty standard cookie cutter brawler.

You will go through a bunch iof those before you first taste blood, but that is normal if you zlaren't some kind of pvp-god.
I'm not, anyway. Hope that helps at least a little for what to fit.
By all means, call me out if I'm blowing hot air.

ok dude, EvE is very different from other MMOs. the career agents missions you did are there to just teach you the basics, it doesn't lead you to anything. after you have done these career agent missions you can do whatever you like.

you can read all about FW here http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Factional_Warfare

basically FW are wars between gallente vs caldari and minmatar vs amarr. the 2 warzones are in lowsec space between these factions. each faction tries to capture and control all the systems in their respective warzone. you can capture or defend a system by running down complex (complex is a type of cosmic anomalies that spawn in the system) timers, of course in doing so, your enemy aka wartargets can come defend against or attack you inside the complexes to stop the timers. pirates and basically anybody can also come and visit you while you are running down plexes (FW lingo referring to complexes).

so yeah, FW is mostly pewpew with little pve and RP.

Shields confuse me, thanks sitting bull i'll have to check out my setup and rig it a bit like you suggested.

Will it stop me from blowing up instantly? i know how FW works, i've read alot of guides on what it is, but I've literally spent a total of 2 seconds in side a complex. thats 2 different occasions @ 1 second each. Does that mean there are ships so high end that there is no way i can participate? I heard about novice complexes? how do i find those that sounds like me.

I understand that the career missions are simply a tutorial, so i've also been doing Security I missions from the agent finder. this is about as close as i can find to living a life on military work.

any more info please love it give me more. knowledge is power MOOOOREE!

dude i checked your killmails and you did not die on a plex, you died in Tama (a lowsec system) near Nourvukaiken (hisec system) jump gate.

hisec to lowsec and lowsec to nullsec gates are usually gate camped. and if your ship cant insta warp, you'll almost always be caught and be killed.

FW complexes (or plex for short) comes in 4 sizes:
novice - normal and navy/faction/pirate frigates can go inside (T2 figates and above can not)
small - normal destroyers and below including T2 frigs can go inside (cruisers and above can not; im not sure about T3 and T2 destroyers)
medium - cruisers and below can go inside (battlecruisers and battleships can not)
large - all ship size can go (no accel gates)

dude, join a decent corp, you badly need fitting advice.

I congratulate you on your career choice; FW is a great way of getting into pvp. You might want to check out my blog (see sig), especially from around September, as I was doing some FW stuff that you might find interesting.

But really, you have a lot of work ahead of you. That's not a bad thing; it's what makes Eve such a deep game with such a long term attraction.

First of all, don't start off by looking for fights. Get some cheap, evasive ships - kiting Condor's are a good choice for Caldari - and run some defensive plexes. This will do a couple of things for you:

1) It will give you some LP so that you can fund the many, many ships that you will lose;
2) It will teach you the 'plex mechanics that dominate faction warefare;
3) It will get you used to operating in FW low sec;
4) It will ease you into the FW community; and
5) It will teach you what the 'other guy' is doing when you get to the point that you want to start jumping into occupied 'plexes.

Do that for a while, and look for a FW corp to join, as they can show you the ropes much more thoroughly that we can on the forums. Also, this game is more fun with friends.

If you like reading about low sec piracy or wormhole pvp, you might enjoy my blog.
