I have put down PI facilities on good planets in a WH. I have '# of planets' and 'quality of command centers' trained to 4 and 4 (out of 5), allowing me 5 planets and almost fully upgraded command centers.

On all planets, I am sucking out P0, converting each P0 to P1, and combining 2 P1s to form a P2. So each planet uses 2 different extractor facilities, 4 basics, 2 advanced's, plus storage and launchpads.

I *think* each basic sucks in 6000/hour, so I set my 2 extractors on 24 hour cycles, and set each one to suck in 'somewhat over' 12,000/hour (I think they are about 16,000/hour). From there everything feeds into the system, and the P2 flows.... supposedly.

Thing is, things seem to be running slowly on all planets. I'm not sure what I'm to expect with this setup, and what would constitute normal. Each advanced outputs to its own launchpad, so I have 2 launchpads to fill up. Based on the numbers given, assuming I dutifully reset the cycles each day blah blah, how long would you expect the 2 launchpads to fill up?

Thanks.

I have a lot of P0-P2 setups in a WH.

Best setup is 1 launchpad, 6 basics, 3 advanced. You can make up to 50% more P2 with that setup and the P0 does not stack up as much so managing space is less of an issue. (lvl5 upgrades helps keep everything running 100% of the time).

I have level 5 upgrades and I can get 7 Basics on some planets, I use the extra P1 in a factory planet as a side project.

Then level 5 upgrades will be one of my near-future trains.

You will need 6000 units of P0 per hour to keep a basic processor fed. You need to buffer this through a storage unit because the harvest varies - you get a lot more at the beginning of your program than at the end.

Making P2 is the best route for low maintenance. exporting P1 is best for maximum yield but requires more effort.

In nullsec, with level 5 skills, I average about 2000 units of P2/week from each colony. This requires 3 advanced processors, 6 basic processors and 2 extractors (each pulling 18000 units of P0/hour in an ideal world). Everything is buffered through the Launchpad. I run 2 day programs and harvest once a week.

My factory planets import P2 and make P3 & P4. I don't sell my PI but build it into finished goods like drones and mobile structures.

Route everything through 1 launchpad. 2 extractors (4 heads each), 4 basic, 2 advanced. I set my cycles to 4 days/3 hours. Don't use any other storage except the launchpad.

Here's a good setup from CastorTollux on reddit:

And here is a logical routing map that works and prevents any surplus from completely stopping your systems.

I believe recommended extractor cycle is 24-28 hours, but really depends on the quality of the planet you're on.

You can get 300-360 P2 per day, I normally export when it gets to around 2000 (up to 4000 on planets with slower production) but you have space for up to 6000 but you start to loss space for P1 and P0. So roughly once a week.

I export from the Poco when I get 10-15k, so like ever 6 weeks.

i agree, storage is OK for factory planets where you want to be a bit more hands off but for production planets its a waste, better off with more extraction.

Unless you are running in HS or with a very long cycle 6/3 is a better setup. Hell when i was running HS PI half my planets could make more from a 6/3 than 4/2 and they would just over produce P0.

For wormhole PI, this is the wrong question. The right question is: 'Is it safe to make a collection run?'.

I collect product every 3-4 days when I know that there are no wandering wormholes leading to my system and I have no 'visitors'. That's more often than I need to, but I don't ever want to be in a position where I have to make a run despite the possibility of being intercepted.

That's the main reason I went back to P2 production (at a slight loss); being forced to make that daily run to fuel the P3 factory meant losing Epithals from time to time (but not product - as soon as the bubble goes up you dump everything into the POCO).

You wouldn't wait to the last minute to refuel your POS, and you shouldn't wait to the last minute to collect your PI.
