Questions about Tempest Fleet Issue

I purchased one and everytime i ask in game about it, I just get a bunch of crap from players about how I should fly other ships etc. I dont want to fly other ships, I want to fly my Tempest.

So, hopefully there are people here on the forums who can give me some advice on the best way to outfit this boat, and some ideas on how to play it, because to me it seems that if I fit this boat correctly it could put up some pretty mean firepower and be a real asset to any fleet or any fight in general where it can sit back at range and let those big guns fly.

Thanks,
Culamity

We need a zkill guide to the Tempest Fleet Issue

You do not want to hear that, but the thing is - the Tempest is actually better. The only thing the TFI has over the regular Tempest is hitpoints, which rarely ever matter with this ship and are certainly not worth the hefty price tag and sacrifice of 2.5% RoF per level. The TFI is not in a very good position at the moment. If you want PvP, you are better off with a regular Tempest (or Mach) and if you want to run missions, you are better off with a Maelstrom (or Mach) or a Vargur if you like the overall design of the Tempest and can afford it.

Just for comparison: The TFI deals about 12% less damage, is less agile and costs about twice as much as the Tempest. In exchange for that you get 45% more hitpoints, 2% more cap, 5 extra light drones (but no extra bandwidth), less than 3% smaller signature, and one extra low slot - a department where the regular Tempest is already quite strong. Oh, right - you get 50m³ more cargo as well. Yay, I guess. It's just not a very good deal in my book.

Fly what you want and screw everyone else. At some point mission efficiency and ISK/hour will give way to lethargy. So if you're not enjoying what you fly - what's the point?

Yes, the Tempest Fleet Issue has 12.5% less ROF. It also has an extra low slot (7) so you can buff damage or increase damage application plus the aforementioned hit points. It's also got more drone capacity, powergrid, CPU, speed and inertia than the standard Tempest.

Tempest will do it better and you will be able to afford the lossmail more often

As pve goes you will be let in incursion fleet in one(as well as with tempest) until you buy machariel or a slot filler at best.

Seriously if you respect firepower t1 tempest is a way to go or maelstrom or vargur or machariel both typhoons than TFI it is THAT bad.

Edit

as for setups you need to tell us what is it for.....

Fly what you want to fly. If you find something you love, and you have it in you to do it, then do it with all your might.

The only time I would tell you to not do it in if you are ganking with it, or are war-decced. Fly cheap ****, in that case. Or better yet, do like I do for the week, and log off and play warcraft or skkyrim until the threat ends.

No matter how stupid it is, there is one thing I have found, in this game. If you play with the fitting, damned near every ship in this game can be made VIABLE for its role. It won't be the best, flavor of the month, but it will get the job done, so if you like it, do it.

It's bad form to ask advice in game, people got stuff going on with no time for casual conversation. The forums are the place to ask for advice and then only if, after due diligence and research, you can't find the answers you want. And then I'd take the answers with a grain of salt as there are people out there who will give off the wall answers either out of ignorance or just being one of those holes we hear so much about.

I've never heard that one, before, and I ask for advice in game non-stop. 'Bad form,' like wearing my Grand Seiko Diver instead of a Rolex with a suit? Bad form. Whatever. It's a department store suit, anyway, that should be bad form enough. Oh, but I've never had anyone complain about any single one of these things...

Hell yes, ask in game. They have a lot of help channels exactly for that, and if you join a corp that says what this schmuck just did, run!

They're fine. Couple 'o thousand feet of duct tape and they're usually good-to-go.

Of course you never hear anyone complain, they simply do not answer the idiot. If you do get an answer it's more like RTFM than anything else. There's always some idiot bleating that they don't understand this and can you do that and it's just noise. But there again this game has a multitude of ways to play it and if all you want to do is hang out in a station and coach the noobs then go for it, although I haven't a clue why what watch you wear with what suit has anything to do with anything. My fashion sense is rather execrable anyways. You actually wear a suit whilst playing? We live in strange days.

I really don't know what the issue is. Offer some fitting advice or don't.
It's not like asking for help is a big deal... "Relax, Francis."

Here's the advice I would give you:

Fly what you like. That's it. That's all of the advice. If you want to fit lasers to your rifter, then fit lasers to your rifter. It's not going to be particularly effective, but if that's what you want, then do it. If you want to fly the TFI, find a fit that accomplishes what you want and use it.

However, be aware that you will occasionally run into the round hole square peg problem. There are some ships that cannot do some things. This is by design. But barring that, if there's a ship you want to fly, fly it. Learn from the mistakes you make and move on

I would suggest asking around in the Ships & Modules subforum as opposed to GD.

I recently purchased one as an "investment" ship. Evenutally, CCP will realize that it isn't in line with other Navy issued ships and likely buff it up some. So, pick up a couple if you have the isk and sit on them for a while. Til then, get yourself a cheap Maelstrom (much better for PVE ratting), or put your money into some cruisers and frigs if you are wanting to do PVP.

^ cheapest thing out there Maelstrom will out price it given a time while 280mil Machariel is a bargain and worth every isk 280 mil TFI worth none of it.

Well, of course! You guys are just that important! I need to look my cheap-ass department store, not Rolex sorta best, right?!

(/Sarcasm)

Half of the time I sit here in underwear and a wife-beater. Pretty sure a lot of people do. Not to put too awful fine a point on it, but in most every case, the only stupid question is the one you didn't bother to ask. If you HAD asked, it wouldn't have been a stupid choice.

Thing is, if you ask a question, you get an answer and that's all you get. But if you perform due diligence and research your question thoroughly then along the way you pick up a deeper understanding of not only the answer you quest for but also a deeper understanding of the game. Have I asked questions? Yes. I've even had an answer to a question without even asking on one memorable occasion in my noob days, when the guy who'd just blown my Tristan into tiny little pieces lectured me on the inadvisability of fitting stabs to a Tristan. I never forgot that.
