Player Search in Fleets

For a number of reasons, not least of which is an FC, in the heat of the moment, calling for the fleet to anchor on someone who is not linked in fleet chat, I request a search function for finding a particular player in fleet. This would make adding them to watch list much easier, as finding someone in particular within a several hundred strong fleet can be a nightmare when the only option is scrolling and hoping you spot their name.

Thanks for considering this quality of life feature :)

sounds like you need better fleet organization

for one you can broadcast them or they can broadcast and everyone will be able to see them in the history

Lugh, no organization survives first contact with reality. Furthermore, you cannot broadcast a fleet member. The only thing you can do is broadcast yourself as Travel to My System (or other things via the top left corner of the fleet window), which does allow other people to add them to the WL, but it also requires the very person that is supposed to get on the WL to do this. Other people cannot do it for them, and in addition it causes unnecessary confusion if someone broadcasts travel to or in position at just to so that they show up in the list to add them to the WL. Stop being so obnoxious when you try to cobble together a workaround solution. Roll

This functionality already exists in the form of clicking in the fleet chat user list and ten typing the initial letters of the character so that the list focus jumps to the respective characters area.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

then you are undisciplined or were never truly organized

you can broad cast them as target and they can broadcast any number of things that will get them put into the history. from the history you do not need to add to WL before anchoring and you definitely do not need to add to wl to link the name.

these are not cobbled workarounds but things we use in fleet.

the search function is far slower than this

Lugh has a point, a search function is not a fast and easy solution to your fleet management, especially not if your in an engagement and have to start typing a characters name.

yeah, like any other game when you accidentaly press enter (or any other key for chat) and you died wondering why you can't control or move your character during a fight.

More in that typing out a name takes a lot more effort than just knowing someone's in wing 3 and clicking on it. Good try though, sport

Or of its some one you didn't think you would be using having them broadcast the wrong rep type

I'm reminded of the scene from Euro Trip where the kid goes into a sex shop in Amsterdam.... Club Van Der Sexx.

The safe word was FLÜGGÅӘNKб€ČHIŒßØLĮÊN... all he had to do was say it and his pain would be over.

Good luck saying it though.

More than a few players have names that are mispronounced, "creatively spelled" or are simply not worth trying to pronounce.

Omg, all of you are missing the point entirely. It's truly awe inspiring how you are able to ignore the content of the post, and laser focus in on what I said about the fight and the FC. Way to go kiddos

I agree with the OP. It's a simple quality of life improvement, and if you never use it, it doesn't harm you at all. In addition, I would like the search to be tied to assisting drones, so you can assist drones without delicately navigating your mouse through the name menu while singing the "ABCs"

Oh in that case I'm even more against it. Last thing we need is to make assisting drones easier
