Are the Monoliths acknowledged in-universe?

Some systems have these things called "Black Monoliths", which I understand are an homage to the film 2001: A Space Odyssey. But do they also exist in-universe, are they acknowledged or mentioned in any part of EVE's massive piles of written official lore?

According to our friends Mark726 and Jowan Datloren, the Caldari COSMOS arc features some mention of the Sun Reader at a Talocan dead space site in Otitoh. There may be another in Otomainen, but to my knowledge this is the only get text dedicated to the acknowledgement of the objects. (I have also not yet run the Caldari COSMOS arc.)

Ah yes I do remember reading that the theory is how they were used by the Talocan for stellar cartography in some way, quoting that COSMOS mission as a source. It's just that to my knowledge these things are as old as the game is, COSMOS missions are also over a decade old (introduced in 2005), so I wondered what is their current status - as the lore has gotten plenty of retcons during this time - and thus far apparently the only direct mentions in lore they have gotten are in those COSMOS missions.

The Arek'jaalan thing is more recent, but since it is player made theorycrafting (not to by any means downplay the awesome work everyone put in to the event!!), I wasn't sure of their canonicity, as AJ in general feels like something entirely abandoned and due to go the way of the dodo sooner or later.

Hello hello, somebody mentioned my name.

They only thing I can point at is one of my contributions to the A'J project which tries to piece together all the available observations on the monoliths into a plausible theory. In its core, that is actually how science works in general. Of course, CCP can/will at anytime disregard my theories or retcon the observations, but that is that.

--Spoiler alert --

New Drifter wormhole content does appear to feature the monoliths in a purposeful way.

I think they are connected in some way to the Orbs that rogue drones used.

Maybe these Orbs were Talocan in origin also? Shocked
