Your pricing seems to be a bit off. I was going to say drop to T1 rigs but they are not really that expensive Evepraisal says its like ~800mil.

Otherwise its OK for static fights if you can De-aggro and dock or are fighting a smaller group. Otherwise the rest of your fleet may get forced off and the Orca killed due to immobility. If you have the pilot count for a dedicated logi or 2 and a booster separate ships would be better.

Nestors are great if you want an Armor logi, not so great for Shields. Also no boosts.

If you don't need the boosts and are OK with Armor then they are great. Still think Guardians are better for most situations though.

The Orca's horrible align time and warp speed really precludes it from being used anywhere but an asteroid belt.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

This is just wrong. The thread is kind of missing some important points also. The most obvious omission is that the battle orca is like all other ships in Eve. It isn't (and there aren't) any universal solo pwnmobiles in the game. Being that it isn't designed primarily as a pvp platform it's a 3rd string performer at best.

PROS: it's very tough and can (when fit for it) be quite the beast to take down.

CONS: slow, low dps (as if it wasn't designed as a combat ship)

Secret weapon: The siren song of the great white whale. It is heard across vast distances in space. It has been proven time and again that the call of the orca is unavoidable. Once it is hear by a ganker all reasonable thought processes immediately cease and 'must kill orca' overrides anything else that may have been on the mind of any pvp oriented player. It basically shuts down the frontal lobe of the brain so things like caution, intuition and any other functions that might prevent immediate engagement are minimized to the point of non-function. The call of the orca has been likened to the call of the ratting raven, but only stronger. It's that immeasurable quantity - Any predator within range that hears this noise will feel a primal pull. It is undeniable.

Uses:
1. Any wh connection.
2. Any asteroid belt - throw out a few MTUs in belts and just warp between them 'picking up' their contents
3. Any MTU anywhere any time - it just always works.
4. Fake auto piloting from gate to gate.
5. Anywhere not in a docking ring.

It's one of the more tastier baits in your arsenal. Wiggle that whitewhaleass and brace for excitement.

I'll give you a point for whale song - that was original.

The part of the trap is that she invokes confidence. No, really, WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?
It's just an oversized Badger.

Seriously though, +1 :) You well deserved it.

I grew attracted to this description. The call of the Orca really does work after all.
