The use of other dimensions is a staple in many forms of fiction, and has crossed over into mainstream culture. It's not unusual to hear something described as TARDISlike for example.

The inside of a container exists in a different, relative dimension to the exterior; much like a woman's handbag that contains way more stuff than its size would suggest.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
