2x1 combo!

Aaron Copland - Hoe-Down (from the ballet Rodeo, 1942)

And...

Emerson Lake & Palmer - Hoedown (1972)

Bonus track:

Bonaparte's retreat by William H. Stepp, 1937

This specific recording was used by Aaron Copland as the foundation for the Hoe-Down section of Rodeo. Cool

Roses are red / Violets are blue / I am an Alpha / And so it's you

Today I have listened Glenn Frey-The Heat Is On.
Here are lyrics for it.

Interesting words from this song:
"The shadows high on the darker side
Behind the doors, it's a wilder ride"

Apparently it's a thing now to flip classical music on its head.

And now, an oddity.

Estación Victoria - Octubre rojo (1983)

The poshest/classiest band in the Spanish techno-pop scene of the 80s, Estación Victoria (litherally Victoria station) had a huge and ephemeral success with a song about the October Revolution in Russia from the point of view of a Russian aristhocrat exiled in Paris. Like, why be humble about the topics of your songs, eh? Cool

Roses are red / Violets are blue / I am an Alpha / And so it's you

I just noticed that tis thread is well over 5 years old, since I started it on November 2011. So many things have changed... but not the music I like and love, or the music I hate beyond words. I think noobdy ever posted anything here that made me go berserk. Odd stuff, yes. But also many of the things I pick to share here are odd. Old, or uncommercial, or obscure, but good music, IMHO.

Some just belong to another time, even if they are more or less timeless. Like today's piece. It's been over 5 years since I posted some Deodato, so...

Eumir Deodato - Crabwalk (1975)

Roses are red / Violets are blue / I am an Alpha / And so it's you
