Hmm, strange, indeed.

Given it's strangeness, and the fact that it doesn't seem that very many has had this problem I think it's related to some quite deep and obscure voodoo in EvE's keybinding code.

My issues with synergy+ did actually happen when they made the latest tweaks to key shortcuts.

My only advice without more data would be to play nice with the GM's, provide them with all data they ask for and understand that the only thing they can do is to forward your data to the very limited amount of developers who actually know how that bit of the code works Smile



you think if i defragment my entire hdd and install everything all over again would help ? i did on virtual and still doesnt work... you think it would be any different with defragmenting my pc ?

You do seem to have a very strange problem and as others have said Eve must be interpreting the key presses as something weird.

I personally don’t think re-installing Windows or defragging your hard disk will do much good. I agree with Lors Dornick you should just play nice with the GM’s, give them as much data as you can and keep talking to them.

As this has dropped off the first page pretty quick you might also ask for this thread to be moved to ‘Issues, Workarounds & Localization’ where more experienced trouble-shooters often reside. It might even be picked up by CCP Habakuk who seems to be very good at getting things like this brought to the attention of the right people.

omg! I don't think some of see what i was getting at but any who.....Ive done everything to make sure these problems aren't coming from my side. if I didn't and it turned out it was while i was saying to GM, how stupid would i look =)

so basicly what im getting from 1 or 2 posts is **** it GM isnt gona help me so why bother?
so why should they even have a job if there ******* ********. i show GM' screen shots and stuff and they still expect me to do there ******* jobs. some of you might be happy with them taking money u earned... so they can sit and play eve but im NOT!

p.s the amount of people that play eve now has dropped by quite a large amount!... thats why they don't give a **** about players they proved that when they brought out that AUR crap

The thing is though, that I've found that the first GM who replies in, my experience, about 20% of petitions, doesn't even read the title of the petition at all, and I have to post a subsequent message re-explaining the topic (now that I have their attention). I always write concisely and accurately, with not a shred of ambiguity in my petitions, and yet sometimes I still get a canned cut-and-paste answer, or an answer that has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

You should be able to understand why some people are pissed off with the quality of the customer service offered in EVE.

Maybe if you weren't so condescending and assisted with investigations to your rather unique problem you wouldn't need to come ranting on the forums.

This seems to be a very strange and unique problem you are having.
The GM who answered your petition was only trying to help out, and I think it's very reasonable to suggest running the repair tool, as that often solves some strange issues.

Anyways, you can try to bugreport it. If you do so from within the client, we get all sort of info on your computer setup, and that might help someone to figure out what's going on.
If you know, please state when this started (if we had a client update around that time, it might help to pinpoint the problem).

Just one question.... are you by any chance using wireless keyboards?
(I have no real reason to believe that might be problematic, I just think I heard a long time ago about someone haveing some keyboard issues because of wireless keyboards).

Actually i am using wifi keyboard . But not a problem anymore. Will close petition. I updated my Bios and problem was solved . A friend of mine told me to do that. i had 2.1 BIOS and updated to 2.9 and now everything works just fine . Dont ask me to explain it because i cant :)

About the gm who answered m i know he was trying to help out, and i am very gratefull . The problem was he moved petition to other division and from that moment i got no respond that anybody is working on it at all :) it was just a feeling my petition was pushed under the carpet :))

Peripherals often come with drivers these days, for macroing, key assignment etc. make sure yours are up to date

As this winds down and has been solved I would like to ask our esteemed devs (and GMs) what to look for when finding this kind of very odd keyboard issues.

It seems that EvE is using a somewhat unorthodox keyboard handling methods, since I've found 'wierd' behaviour with this that I've only been able to recreate with EvE, but not with _any_ other software.

Is EvE using DX input calls or is it calling something else, and if so what kind of calls are used?

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Game doesnt response to ESC , TAB .CTRL or enter keys . This problem occured with 3 days ago server lags and problems
Enter doesnt work in log in screen and character selection . How ever it works when im using IG chat . That makes no sense but its like that . When i try to push enter after i typed password nothing happens, nothing happens either when i hit enter on character selection screen.

checked my keyboard with keyboard test application . Work perfectly - need to mention that all other aplications detect all of my keys working perfectly fine.

I unistalled client , deleted every eve related file from pc and downloaded new one, still doesnt work
I installed win7 on vmware workstation (virtual machine) , downloaded game there with all drivers fully updated , still doesnt work


Im out of options now... i am 100% my hardware and software is fine . I rly cant figure out what the problem is... Gms doesnt answer to my petition.

I had this result once, but it was strictly the result of a poor internet connction. I was getting ~5 KB/s download. I'd Suggest checking your network and intenet. Run a download speed test, see if you're having a problem with the pipeline being choked off, or something.

These days, anything less than 10 Mbps could get choked up pretty easily; particularly if that's the internet access for a multi-PC network with most accessing the internet regularly.

Also, sometimes Win 7 will do wierd things with Routers; try powering don your PC and Router for a bit, then rebooting. Presumeably this can be avoided by disabling PnP functionality in the router, but I've found there are still issues, and perhaps more of them. Works better with PnP on in my experience, as PnP off just crashed the router the one time I tried.

Something to do with tables that need to be filled out and updated; but there is no way to manually do it. Has to be done by the PCs. Kind of stupid actually, though it might make more sense if you had some idea of what was missing, and I don't.

edit: bios update fixed? That is strange, but makes a certain amount of sense. This is what happens when you read half the topic and reply.

sound to me like your client registry enttries are all screwed up...

step 1 download & install crapcleaner from http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

step 2 uninstall eve online.

step 3 run crap cleaner's registry cleaner to remove all the screwed up registry files (run it multiple times until it finds no more registry errors)

step 4 run crap cleaner's temp file remover to clean out any old corrupt temp files from your system

step 5 reinstall a fresh clean copy of eve online

step 6 log in and enjoy the game

if that still fails to work.......... the problem lies with your vmware operating system.... try installing a seperate hard drive and install win 7 then eve online on that and see if the problem still persists.

Eve Online was never designed to run on a vmware pc.... CCP cannot be blamed if it does not run properly
