The icon is actually a rust orange-red (more red than orange).

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

Nope. The icon is pure orange to me. Not even a hint of red to it.

Make sure you guys are watching out for icon color as well on the wrecks. A few times I've noticed wreck icons seem to appear at first white then seconds later yellow. Then again, that may just be me.

In all likelihood, it's my monitors and not a case of odd ownership flagging. I recently replaced both my monitors and am even playing Eve on a different resolution/UI scaling. I have noticed in other situations color can be a bit harder than I thought to discern on my screens, so it may just be me not being able to immediately tell yellow from white.

Edit: Btw, bring a tractor beam; at the very least, it's effectively a 600-1200 m/sec tailwind and can help in those pesky moments when the BC dies too close to the structures to be easy access.

I've seen that too, where the wreck is white when it spawns and then a split second later it turns yellow, so it's not your monitor.

Just make sure your safety is set to green and you're good to go. Otherwise...

Exactly this. I've made about 20 attempts, 90% of those i managed to get there first, still I only got 3-4 skins, always somebody comes in, finished what I started and walks away with the prize. The best part about it, a few times i did manage to get the last kill somebody who is nearest steals it. My first event in EVE and a huge letdown.

Where were you running these? Cause I'm an alpha skill wise in a gnosis with t1 lasers and i have about 20-30skins right now. Lost 3 maybe to other players, rest of the time uncontested, and 2 destroyed when my internet connection went out. Hyperion/eos lost.

The ask is around 33m in Jita 4-4. They've dropped considerably since the start of the event. Even the Angel SKINs are quite a bit less now.

The icon of the SKIN shows as orange, yes. On the ships themselves, the tone is rather redcurrant-red.
