Medium ship mass wormhole rolling question

So I recently moved into a class 1 wormhole. I used to live in a class 4 and understand how to crit or roll your connecting holes. what I'm wondering is this.... all my connections including my static are always medium ship mass holes with a 1 billion mass. We have 3 guys that can roll or crit our holes but it would take like an hour using tech 1 battle cruisers per hole. Today we just happened to have 4 holes. Is there a better way to doing this I'm not seeing or you just say screw it and never bother rolling holes in a C1. Trying to figure out ops in a C1 as we don't have scouts to watch 4 holes at once and do ops at the same time.

Gonna be tricky closing holes in a c1 with mass limitations. Just the way it is I fear.

There really isn't a solution that I've found for small and medium holes other than a lot of rolling ships or a lot of time. It sucks but the math is what it is.

Yeah no simple way to do it. Just get a ship with exactly 20mil mass ( there are a few) and go to town.

Others have dropped hints about doing this more easily than you would expect.

Does prop mod mass, for example, not get taken into account for the purposes of entering the wormhole? So can you have an 'effective mass' of more than 20 million kg, as long as you have a 'ship mass' of less than or equal to that amount?

If you like reading about low sec piracy or wormhole pvp, you might enjoy my blog.

Mass-limit is checked when you enter the wormhole. If you are under the limit including prop mod, you can jump through. However, the mass that is subtracted from the total mass, is checked again when you exit. So you jump first and activate your prop mod immidately afterwards.

I am not sure what CCP thinks of this "clever use of mechanics". Might still be in the "don't care" category.

This.

Have a ship that just about fits with prop mod off. Put an oversized prop mod on it.
Hit jump (with prop mod off). Immediatly turn on prop mod (before the jump animation). Mass on the hole will be counted with prop mod on.

I'm amazed that I've never heard about this before. Thanks for the info!

Although unrelated to the OP's issue, this will benefit me rolling standard holes solo. I usually use a Higgs rigged Raven because it lets me get the maximum mass through without going over the limit. But I've always thought the Scorpion was a better platform for solo rolling due to it's ECM bonuses (much harder to catch). Unfortunately a Higgs Scorpion with an MWD is just a little too big for a 300M mass limit hole. This little trick should make that possible. Good stuff!

My bad, thought CCP fixed this a while back since it's a clear exploit of bad coding.
Then again, my bad for assuming CCP fixed something I guess.

This method certainly used to work, if it still does then yeah, do that.

Thanks everyone! This helps me allot. I always wonder why but didnt understand the reason you initiate jump, then hit the prop mod.

don't use the nestor. use a higgs rigged cruiser... it's about 550 mil isk cheaper, and just as effective.

My name is Jonn Duune, and I wholeheartedly support the message posted above.
