2012 Back then

2017 Nowadays

Notice the difference in activity and "fun"? 2012 is not even a good example, it was already in decline for couple years, I just dont have any older screenshots of these forums.

To all the ISD and CCP falcon, keep closing every other thread and banning every other account, youre doing a great job killing whats left of these forums and this game.

Professional PHD doctorates ISDs, great job ccp appointed you to take care and cleanse the community off trolls and offensive posts, that the way to go, stop all these bullies from hurting your inners.

Maybe one day you will finally get rid of every sht poster, when theres no one else left in here but you and the whiners group, then you can start making threads asking where all the fun go, oh wait....

What Ptraci said...

Also, before it does get locked....

I for one welcome the moderation and would wish a lot more moderation would take place on the internet, until everyone who can not stop himself to post crap and behaving like the most indecent human beings finally is banned.

And before you throw one of the freedom of speech tantrums at me, freedom of speech is one thing, but using it as a justification to be a complete intolerant and offensive piece of **** or troll who has no interest in any serious conversation is nothing but misusing your freedom of speech and if you are unable to have a conversation without behaving like a complete ******* you might as well be gagged.

Now grab your pitchforks, I for one am being sickened by the behaviour of many people on the internet and think there is no other way to stop that kind of crap.

The most interesting thing I noticed here is that the Views to Replies ratio is a lot higher now than in 2012.

More people lurking and not participating.

You're right.
Freedom of speech is one thing. Censorship is another. You are supporting the restriction of speech on the grounds that some people may say something someone else won't like.
Who gets to decide what speech is intolerant, trolling, offensive, etc? You? Me?
On these forums it's neither of us. ISD is way too censor-happy with no review process. That's part of why forum traffic has migrated to r/eve. As an example, ISD went hogwild on the thread announcing the 118.6 changes. Every post accusing CCP's devs of incompetence when they threw out a year's worth of careful planning in favor of a rebalance they clearly spent a weekend on was removed by ISD citing the No Ranting rule.
Heaven forbid the dev teams aren't seen by the public as without criticism or fault.

The game may be a cold, dark dystopia where your feelings don't matter, but this place is something like The Glorious People's Republic of Hello Kitty Online by comparison.

It´s not so much about people saying things others do not like, it is the way they do it.

And yeah, sure I am a totalitarian-enabling sheep, who has taken part in several RL demonstrations last year and every other year where we were protesting against several decisions made by our government and who supports a lot of movements against the exploitation of our nature for the sake of financial profits.

I´d wager I do more to voice my opinion against our rulers than you do.

Nice try to put words in my mouth though.

edit (because you edited your post while I was typing this): I never said the process is perfect and I agree that some rules are taking it way too far, but in many cases I am not against a stricter moderation as way too often people are crossing a line that should not be crossed for the sake of fruitful discussion.

The forums are less active now than they have been since 2012. There are a variety of reasons, but two are lower active players and less dev participation. There are a few things that are better (organization) and a few that are worse (more heavy handedness, lack of dev participation). This is one reason that Reddit has become more popular.

I think if they added a ship fitting section and killmail bragging area those would be welcome additions.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

Yeah, on the surface it's ironic that the people who find their way to becoming community managers of a gaming forum as their life's calling don't really know or haven't put a lot of thought into what's behind healthy, fun, lively communities. But there's more to it

These people, these insidious so-called "community managers" try to create these sterile PC feelings first areas on the one hand because they think that attracts new players to the game

- this is wrong , new players are attracted by drama and intrigue and a lively community not the atmosphere of a stalinist daycare center like here

On the other hand they think the forums are there to serve as an interface between the community and the company

- this is not the point of the forums either, the forums are for players, CCP can ask us what we want here but it isn't the reason the forums exist

Alas, it's one of the eternal facts of nature that the parasite class (the ones who make their living feeding off the health of a body or community) are unable to change or see themselves with any bit of extrospection. They are fat and content sitting their collecting the life blood of the host in the form of the hourly wage, that's their true goal... not the community - and that's why things won't change or go back to the way they were. As long as their bosses don't pluck them out of their position they are content with a crippled hollow community. They (community managers and ISD) are like mosquitos feasting on a bedridden elderly person at a nursing home and that's how they should be seen.

Not sure if serious, but just in case:

It's not what they say. I couldn't care less what they say. But you can express yourself freely and not be a complete and utter douche-suckling syphilitic *** stain about it at the same time.

It's not what they say. I couldn't care less what they say. But you can express yourself freely and not come across as an insensitive sociopath at the same time.

Now., do you see what I did there?

Nice Spin. Yes, most of those threads were closed for Ranting and Redundancy. You completely gloss over the fact that there are pages and pages of criticism and feedback in the Feedback thread for that Expansion. You know the one the Dev's make every patch to track what the players are think about the patch/expansion? In fact there are thousands of post critical to the way things are being developed in EVE. The deference between them and a lot of the rants is simple.

A rant: GRR I hate (Insert thing here.) You suck!

Constructive Criticism: I hate (thing here) It causes me to do (x) or it created this issue.

See the difference. One is angry and does nothing to further the discussion. The other tells CCP why this is an issue for this player. It gives CCP something to work with.
