Fleet warping cloaked.

Ola,

I noticed you can't fleet warp cloaked cause the warp mechanics pushes you all together and well within decloaking range of each other.

I think it would be cool if a fleet (capped by size or not or whatever) could be able to warp cloaked together.
Just imagine the opportunities it would create.

Cheers,

Cloaked ships dont decloak each other.

You can quite effectively fleet warp a group of cloaked ships, like a bomber fleet.

But any non-cloaked ships in the fleet will decloak those ships that are cloaked.

While this could offer some interesting options I am not sure they would be good for the game overall.

Can't you create two squads and warp them separately?

Anyone who isn't moving their cloakies separately from the main fleet deserves whatever they get out of that tactical blunder.

No problem here, nothing that needs changing.

... or you are not an incompetent FC and make two squads...

to be honest all of our cloaks are in a separate fleet to avoid some one warping to the wrong guy.

A change that might be nice though, would be to make it so that ships that use or have an operational Covert Ops Cloaking device equipped do not decloak other cloaked ships (at least within your own fleet).

This means that if a bomber fleet is already bunched up within 2km of each other they can still cloak as a group and move as a group because they will not constantly be stepping on each other's toes and preventing a cloak during an operation. It makes larger bomber groups much more practical because it lowers the risk of other pilots (hostiles and friendlies alike) causing a blunder and cascading a chain of decloaks.

no the fact that it makes large solid groups of cloakies hard is a good thing

learn to train your pilots to be individuals and and they won't need to blob up

the most you need in one group is 7 after that you should be splitting them

Assuming you are using them for bombs and not torpedoes.

At that point the most you need in each group is one... so max stays at 7

ABC = Always be cloaked.

If you fleet is not good enough for pressing a button on time they deserve to be decloacked.

they do, i warped only 2 cloaked ships using squad warp command, they were pulled together within 1km of each other and forced to decloak one another.

then that was a bug or one of them shut off their cloak

Seconded, this is not how the mechanics work with a Covert Ops Cloak. If one or more of the ships had a normal cloak then that's entirely working as intended, you can't warp cloaked with one of those. So when you warped the cloak shut off.

well no they would still have to shut it off or it would not let them warp. warping does not shut off a standard cloak

Doh, right, forgot. Been ages since I used one of those things... lol.

Still, my point stands. OP seems to be misunderstanding something about how cloak mechanics work and is blaming the mechanics for something that is likely user error or a lack of understanding of the differences between modules.

Uhm. Don't cloaked ships decloak each other now? Happened back in 2014ish?

Edit:

Nevermind Misremembering shite they canned that idea.

Edit 2: So basically whatever one else said.
