Hi all,

I haven't played eve in about two years, now I started playing again because a friend of mine was interested.

Now we do some mining, which is great for just some relaxing gametime. But when he's not online, I would like to run some missions. But I just can recall what Type of ship I used for which lvl of missions.. And would it be wise/handy to have him loot/salvage while I run the missions for him to get some isk?

So my question is?! I know is still have a Megathron (battleship), a Thorax (Cruiser), a myrmidon (combat battle cruiser) and a Catalyst (destroyer).
I am not sure at all but if I remember correctly I was running lvl3 missions... which of the above ships are less likely tot pop and/or is one of em able to run lvl4's?

If you guys need any more info, pls let me know..

Loads of thanks in advance!

Use the battleship or battlecruiser on lvl 4, cruiser on level 3, frigates and destroyers on lvl 2. Your training may vary this just a bit.

Stick with the Megathron for L4s. Battlecruisers don't offer enough DPS or tank for some of the tougher missions.

Use your Megathron for the level 4 missions.
If you are looking to grind standings again, I hear blitzing level 3 missions as being the way to go. From what you have, your Myrmidon will do well in that regard.

You can always look for informations about a specific mission on this website: http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=MissionReports - including damage dealt to you and recommended damage to deal and recommended ship to use.

Thx for the replies guys!

Made the mission, but barely... my ship clearly needs improvement, I just need to find out how and where!

Thx again!

Kronos... (cough)... Kronos. You can also turn on the flashing lights (Police SKIN).

Post your fit and we can help with that. What was the mission?

Tbh, I never really liked the mega as a mission boat...

The basic rule for hull class per mission level :

Level 1 = Frigate or Destroyer
Level 2 = Cruiser
Level 3 = Battlecruiser
Level 4 = Battleship
Level 5 = Carrier or small fleet -w- Logistics

Remember this is just a basic rule and there's always an exception to the rule. With top skills and Faction / Deadspace fit, Assault Frigates can easily complete Level 4 missions.

Follow DMCs suggested ship categories per mission level.

It looks like you may have trained more gunnery than drone skills judging by the Myrm being the odd one out of your owned ships. However, if you really want to do better at missions you should keep the Myrm and swap the Mega for a Domi. Then you can slap on a MMWD or a LMWD to either the Myrm or the Domi and blast things from a hundred km away with sentry drones. Missions will be easier and quicker. The Domi is a wonderful level 4 mission ship.

CCP, there are off buttons for ship explosions, missile effects, turret effects, etc. "Immersion" does not seem to be harmed by those. So, please give us a persisting off button for the jump gate and autoscan visuals.

The Domi is also a really boring mission ship because you'll be hard-pressed to get any decent kind of DPS at extreme ranges (we're talking damage in the sub-500s). If you're blitzing go for something fast like a Machariel or Barghest, and if you're after mission clears your best option is a Marauder or Faction battleship like the Rattlesnake.

I am also a returning player and I am debating between a Domi and an Ishtar. Which would be better? I have an Ishtar hull right now but I may sell it for a Domi. Also, does anyone have any fits that I may use for either ship?

Ishtars aren't as great for missions anymore with the sentry drone nerf and you lose a lot of drone DPS with transit time on heavy drones (even with the speed bonus). NPCs also tend to focus a lot on drones so it's a lot easier to lose them.

Guns are really cat's a** when it comes to missions. Instant application, easy grouping and the ability to hot-key them. You can also move while shooting which also mitigates your damage. Just sitting there waiting to collect your drones gets tedious after a while. Blasters, pulse lasers, autocannons, rails and beams are all extremely effective.

Hmmm, so what would you recommend? I can fly pretty much anything but I do lack missile skills. I would prefer to stay in a Gallente ship until I am comfortable with eh game again. I have the Ishtar and a 100 million isk to work with but I may be able to get a loan.

Well, I love (love) my Blaster Kronos. 1375 DPS and I can snipe frigates at 80km with ease if I overheat my tracking computers. It's an uber-Megathron that comes in black as well as flashy blinking lights. The best thing I love about it is that you can tank it with a single T2 damage control and 60m Deadspace armor rep. 4.5AU/s with decent Ascendancy implants. It's even one of the more affordable Marauders. Totally worth a PLEX as it can pay for itself in a few gaming sessions.

A rail Megathron or Vindicator would probably be my second choice. You can definitely try out a Domi but I think you'll find it a bit lacking. I have a love-hate relationship with missiles, so while I've used them in the past I much prefer guns now.

Buying a plex is not really an option right now so I will have to make the Domi or Ishtar work. Thanks anyways.

That's why I also mentuoned the Megathron as an option.

I sold my Ishtar, got a small loan from a friend, and bought a Rattlesnake. I am looking at a cruise missile/drone setup but I am struggling to find a fit (I see a lot of insulting on the forums).

Any recommendations? I am not looking for speed right now, just safe mission running as I get back into the game.

There are two varations that I've found to be the most effective:

Sentry Drones + RHMLs
* 2x BCU, 1x MGE, 3x DDA, 2x Omni, 2x T2 hydraulic rigs, 1x T1 flare
* This is EW-immune, works great with auto-targeting missiles; absolutely shreds small ships
* Depending on implants, you get an approximate 100km missile range. This is a "fire-and-forget" fit - you drop your drones and as soon as you have aggro you start firing missiles and just let it rip. You don't need to worry about locking targets - anything in range gets attacked.

Sentry Drrones + Cruise
* 3x BCU, 3x DDA, 1x Omni, 1x TP or MGC, 2x T2 rigor and 1x T1 flare or T1 drone range rig
* This is most effective with T2 cruise launchers and Fury ammunition; very effective against cruisers and battleships
* Does require more micromanagement but has the most damage potential. Use sentries against smaller ships and cruise missiles against cruisers, battlecruisers and battleships.

In both fits you run a T2 drone link augmentor, 500MN MWD or MJD plus your tank (usually a pair of T2 adaptive invulnerabilities and an X-large Deadspace shield booster. Some players prefer a passive, semi cap-stable fit that's a lot safer but trades this for less DPS and damage application. I personally don't run these kind of fits but I'm sure someone else has a good passive fit they can share.

Thank you very much. I am running something very similar to your sentry + cruise setup but I am missing the x-large shield booster. For some stupid reason I cannot plug in one of my implants even though I have the skills for it.

I would be interested in a passive build but I can try google a bit more. Ever since EVE clinic shut down finding fits is a bit more difficult.
